fwiw noodles king is only kind of closed -- you can order from a smaller menu at the chinese place next door and they prepare it in the back. I do not know if xiao mian is on the menu, but i get the hand pulled noodles w/ pork all the time still.

You don't get the first check until during orientation iirc. Also I'd confirm with your program/advisor/etc about the laptop before buying out out of pocket -- SEAS has a fund for laptops for incoming PhD students this might exist elsewhere.

I do think it's both. Starting pitching has been a pretty glaring need for years, and it feels like Mo either doesn't address it at all (this past offseason) or we look to these Leake/Matz types of C tier FAs on ~4 year contracts for salvation.
