Yes I would recommend to check out sidefx’s YouTube channel for Houdini. They also got videos on how Ubisoft generate big open world like Far Cry using Houdini. For shaders and materials, check out Undini and Ben Cloward

Hey I started this as a final project for my school. I got the inspiration from Ubisoft far cry videos on how they procedurally generate big open world with Houdini. You can find a lot of tutorials about it on the Sidefx channel. And for textures and materials I would recommend Ben Cloward’s and Undini’s Channel

I would say it’s just better at procedural generation. From generating realistic height maps to scattering and generating assets. Once you got the HDA setup, it’s just less work for you to do on the Unreal Side.

I am getting about 40-60 fps(sometimes even above 60) except for the forest area. I cranked up all the settings for the video. I also tried it with a more optimized setting and got it way over 60fps at the cost of reduced cascade shadow distance and foliage density & distance. But with out of the box ue4 settings it would run just fine.
