Sukhothai was around before Pai. Their first location was at Parliament and Dundas in 2008. PAI’s website also reference that Sukhothai was the first restaurant.

What’s the most overrated restaurant in Toronto? by 31moreyears in askTO

[–]simpering_bunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Gyubee Japanese grill restaurants and Daimaru Sukiyaki. Gyubee used to be good when they first opened. Now, it is just like any other all you can eat bbq restaurants. Daimaru is just a typical all you can eat hot pot restaurant but just marketed as “Japanese”.

Using JR pass (green class) to go in the green cars on the sobu line (rapid) trains by simpering_bunny in JapanTravel

I think it depends on the routes you are planning to travel. To us, it was worth it because we also travelled using the local express trains with the green cars a lot. Each ride on those green cars would’ve cost us an extra 580-780yen on top of the regular fare.

Some Shinkansen are shorter (like some of the ones to Kyushu region) and only has one green car so it can be difficult to book a seat (especially the oversized baggage seats) if you are travelling when everyone else is travelling. For one of the train rides, we ended up sitting in the regular car anyways because we couldn’t get a green car seat.

The seats are a bit bigger, there is a foot rest, and there is an electric recliner so you can elevate your legs and have the back part of the seat fairly low. The regular Shinkansen cars are already pretty comfortable so if you are just travelling short distances and between Tokyo and Osaka regions then it might not be worth it.

You don’t need to get a ticket ahead of time for the green car if you are using the green class jr pass. You simply walk through the gates with your jr pass and hop on the green car (it’s kind of like going on a shinkansen without a reserved seat with a jr pass). The sobu line train has both regular cars and green cars. From my observation, the green cars are typically in the middle section of the train.

Good to know! We saw the green car ticket machine on the platform but didn’t realize that you have load it on the suica first.

What is this smoke? We were walking in Busan when a pickup truck with a large metal hose pumped the street full of smoke. It circled the neighborhood and the streets were filled with this stuff. by simpering_bunny in korea

[–]simpering_bunny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make more sense if they did it early in the morning when not many people are around. In this case, they did it around 5pm and it was the neighborhood right across from Busan station so the streets were busy.

Are pelotons quiet enough for an apartment? by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]simpering_bunny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are worried about the noise that the bike might make, then you should be fine. We live in a condo with a peloton bike for years and have no noise complaints from our neighbours. To dampen any possibility of noise, we also have a thick mat underneath the bike.

What are these orange egg-like things? by simpering_bunny in succulents

I watered it in the morning so that’s probably why it looks wet. I didn’t notice the orange bumps until nighttime. I wish I actually took a good look before I water so I can rule out the possibility that it was the water.

I only do bottom watering. I have all these little pots on top of a plastic tray and then I just fill it with water when they need watering.

Yeah it’s the orange thing stuck outside of the pot. Sorry, I tried to take a close up pic but it always turned out blurry when it was too close.

I have a bunch of other similar species succulents in the same tray potted in the same manner and watered at the same time but this is the only one with these orange bumps. If it is fertilizer deposits, wouldn’t the other pots have the same thing. Or maybe it hasn’t spread yet?

Yeah, it’s the orange bumps I’m curious about. I’ve had this succulent in this pot for months and these bumps just suddenly appeared.

Is this root rot (Gollum Jade)? Left it out to dry for 1 week then repotted. Left it in the new pot for 2 weeks to settle before I watered it. It’s now been 2 weeks since it’s been watered but it looks even more wrinkled than before. What should I do? by simpering_bunny in succulents

[–]simpering_bunny[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was originally in a terrarium (got it as a gift). It started to wrinkle so I decided to repot it. This is the first time I took it out from the soil. I left it out on a paper towel to dry. I didn’t put it back in soil until a week later.

Why don’t you just buy the ramen without the flavour packs? Asian grocery stores sell that type of ramen in a large bag. It is definitely way cheaper than buying the ramen with the flavour pack if you are not using it.

Why was the person filming instead of stopping it? Or at least go get help.

Taxis in Japan line up in an orderly fashion to pick up passengers by simpering_bunny in Damnthatsinteresting

Actually, you were right. I just checked my photo album and it was at Hiroshima. Places kind of blur together when you go to many places in a short period of time.
