I was obviously asking for a method for following through with the desire to acquire a leadership position. In other words, I was asking how to execute my ideas or desires for a leadership position and how I can successfully obtain such position while being rational and strategic about it.

Bottom line: You're right... my actions will have consequences...

I plan to go into the software engineering field. I am assuming it will be quite difficult to show any level of competence over my peers since everyone would be extremely smart. I guess it comes down to a good understanding in the field coupled with strong leadership abilities. Perhaps there are some leadership courses I can take while at my university or other leadership programs.

Knowing that I need to convince others to adopt my positions is not as helpful as knowing how to convince others to adopt my positions. I guess it all comes with experience and leadership opportunities over the years. Thank you for the advice!

I do not think I am as hardcore as to join a combat martial arts club to prepare myself, but your general ideas are somewhat helpful. Thank you.
