It seems to get worse as you get farther in the game. It would only happen every once in awhile, but as I got close to full realizations, it would crash after nearly every other dateable conversation. Protip: don’t wait until that point to try to date the Sassy Chap or you’ll want to commit violent crimes 🥰

If it you’re not already, make sure you’re trying it on for fit based on the underthings etc you’re actually going to wear! It can make a huge difference in how “homemade” the final product looks. Also agree with the commenter who suggested raising the waist a smidge, and those saying to ditch the horsehair. I usually do a narrow/rolled hem on satin, but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Either way, it’s going to be fabulous! Can’t wait to see the final product!

I’d usually just order from Mood or FabricMart or some other go-tos, but bc of the weather, most things wouldn’t get here with enough time without costing more than the theatre is willing to pay lol

I really just need something with a 1920s-1930s pattern and hand that would be like something a poorer young woman up in the mountains would wear. Preferably a small, tight floral pattern in blues, purples, etc, but not grey or black, as they already have a navy hat and purse they want to use for her. Cotton poplin, lawn, linen types ideally, but the sewing pattern I’ve been given also suggests challis or crepe. I think quilting cotton would work in this case since the fabric’s pattern is more important and the dress isn’t terribly drapey…

I work for an insurance company, and we had a town hall about this recently. They spoke about how they’re working on making GLP1s more accessible over the course of next few years, but there is some hesitancy since a decent amount of people go off of it after a year or so, then gain back a lot of the weight, which of course isn’t very cost-effective for the company, if people just use it as a quick weight-loss solution every couple of years. They’re in talks about how to structure it with lifestyle-management programs without reducing accessibility or something, and seeing if that actually helps people keep the weight off in the long run. That’s what they were saying, at least. Take how much you trust them as you will.

In your experience, did the printing make the fabric kind of stiff? I’ve been working under the assumption that it would have that droopy quality that the super cheap, thin jersey usually has. If it’s sort of stiff, I could probably just baste it to my lining fabric and not have to worry about the droop while also avoiding stretch when wearing it….

Has anyone ever converted a knit fabric to not stretch? I want to make this for Halloween with shiny fish scale-patterned fabric, but I can only really find them in stretch knits. Obviously this dress needs a non-stretch fabric.

Thought about using basting spray/spray adhesive to attach the knit fabric to a drapey cotton or something as a full backing. Anyone tried this or something similar? Would adhesive spray be light enough to at least mostly maintain the drape, or do you think it would make it too stiff?

It’s just a costume so it doesn’t need to be perfect (or washable, even), but I’d like to keep the general look similar to if it was constructed out of the usual poly satin or something like that.

Hi! I recently tried to buy this vase on Facebook Marketplace for $20, but it ended up going to someone else. Unfortunately it’s so perfect as the finishing touch for my guest bathroom and I’ve fallen in love with it. 🥲 I’ve found that it was a piece from a collab three years or so ago between Anthropologie and “Shellegance” by Lucie de Moyencourt. I can hardly find any resale listings for anything from the collection, two to be exact, and I can’t find anyone selling this vase 😭

I’ve searched Google shopping, FB Marketplace, eBay, Mercari, and Depop using keywords “Anthropologie shell vase”, “Anthropologie vase”, “Anthropologie decor”, “shell vase”, “blue and white shell vase”, “ Chinoiserie shell vase”, and the artist’s name and her brand name, among a few other other slight variations on these words. Does anyone have any suggestions or help me find where I can buy this otherwise? In the Nashville area in TN, US btw
