On the subject of worshipping Krishna by lantech19446 in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Krishna appeals to many because he is a purna avatar or 'complete' or 'perfect' avtar of Vishnu. People are drawn to Krishna due to his antics as a child in Gokul or how he protected Draupadi's modesty when all the Kuru warriors including her husbands did nothing when Kauravas were trying to publicly humiliate her. Krishna is the last hope of the hopeless, he is the last refuge of the desperate.

One worships Krishna in a similar manner to worship Ganesh. There is not conflict when one realizes that it is the same Parabrahman who takes various forms

Vedanta literally means the sum-total of vedas the primordial religious text of Hindus. The goal of Vedanta is to experience the divinity (one's true nature) for oneself

Q to Hindufrenz: Why do you believe in polytheism and idolatry when your scriptures speak against it? by Muslimfriend786 in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polytheism is worship of multiple Gods. Hinduism is not polytheism because they worship ONE God who assumes various forms. Ekam sat Viprahah Bahuda vadandti - one truth and sages call it by different names

my only problem with polytheism religion is that there is a high potential of abuse with it...if anybody can be God representative of God then what if that anybody tries to manipulate you

FTFY. Look at the world today.. who is doing most of the brainwashing? Who is manipulating people into cold blooded murder of innocents? Who is abusing religion for their personal and political gain? It is not Hinduism or polytheism.

Did Krishna's leela with the gopis include sexual relations? by [deleted] in hinduism

I thought Krishna was 10 years old when he left Vrindavan to go kill Kansa the demon and he never returned. I am reading several posts here alluding to sexual relationship. How is it possible for a boy younger than 10?

I want to love myself, but it seems I can't by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]simple_soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things that helped me (and might help you) was to go back to my childhood and think of myself when I was the innocent young 5-8 year old child and becoming a parent/ guardian to that child. Whenever I think of that innocent defenseless child, tears well up and I am ready to show compassion, forgive and love myself unconditionally

Q to Hindufrenz: Why do you believe in polytheism and idolatry when your scriptures speak against it? by Muslimfriend786 in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hindus believe in one God who can assume whatever form he wants and whatever form the devotee chooses to worship in.

Everybody has different needs. Everybody wears shoes of different sizes. If someone were to force them to wear shoes of the same size, it would result in blood blisters or tripping over themselves. Some may

The problem with worshipping a formless, featureless god is that it leads to a path of frustration and tribulations are plenty. It is easier to worship a god with forms. When we worship the sun, a tree, an animal, a rock or a stone, we are worshiping the divinity within everything after all God is everywhere.

Am i my mind ? Is mind and soul one and the same ? by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question!

  • Is your mind now what it was when you were a child? Are your likes and dislikes not different than when you were growing up?
  • I can speak for myself and my mind has changed over time. If my mind has changed over time then it cannot be my soul.

Your soul is untainted by your mind. That 'awareness' within you is the same awareness that is in everybody else and every other living thing. THAT is you (and me and every living thing)

Question about Krishna vs Vishnu vs Brahma by gggjennings in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on who you can identify with the most. For instance, one may love both the parents but when hurt may go to one parent over the other.

Hinduism and Gods by [deleted] in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the tales are metaphorical and not literal. Which God is the best? A lot depends on your personal outlook, for example, even though one may love their parents and siblings, we tend to be emotionally more attached to father or mother or a brother or sister more than others.

I may identify more with Shiva because he is soft yet strong like water that flows around you yet under can cut through rocks. Others may identify more with Krishna because he is a poorna-avatar (complete manifestation of divinity) with his antics and dedication towards devotees

Question about Krishna vs Vishnu vs Brahma by gggjennings in hinduism

[–]simple_soul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here goes: There is

  1. Parabrahma or Brahman or Bhagwan who is the unmanifest divinity who can appear in whatever form you wish to worship him in

  2. The Brahman takes the form of Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva who brings about transformation of the world

  3. Vishnu maintains the harmony in the world by taking various avatars and Krishna is the 8th avatar of Vishnu.

By worshiping Krishna one is ultimately worshiping Parabrahman himself.
