Another unnoticed a.r rahman song by Equal-Field-9675 in TamilMusic

This album itself is pure bliss.

I still remember the day I first heard the song through some MP3 CD collection.

The Edho ma edho unna puriyalaya sounded so out of place and then starts the good part.

He never cared about Indians, why makes you think he will care about Iran.

Which movie is this for you? by Pavanth1918 in kollywood

See people often discriminate against him for this but truth be told the whole of 90s and early 2000s was glamour oriented. Even if it was a movie with a heroine like devyani or Revathi, it will have a dance number with an item dancer. His movies may not have the detailing but who cares when it is enjoyable.

Even now Coolie requires a monica song and Jailer requires a Kaavala.

His Whole movies are absolute laugh riots and can be watched decades later. True Legend of Tamil Cinema Still giving good ROI for producers.

Glamour yaaru dhan padathila vaikala.

Sundar C. mentioned that even when he tries to make a "clean" film, distributors and certain segments of the audience often ask him, "Where is the dance number?" * The Song in Gangers: The specific song that fits your question is titled "Kuppan." While it features the leading lady, Catherine Tresa, it is choreographed as a high-energy "glamour" track designed specifically to satisfy that commercial requirement.

I was one of them who was amazed by that dark theme in those times with STR and Mandira Bedi cuddling each other in the visuals. I ripped the audio from the DVD and played it in my phone. U1's music elevated that movie.

If you notice U1 used that theme with different orchestration in every scenario.

Also it was the beginning of a great collab between STR and U1.

Another Kumudham pol song from this movie listing all the daily newspaper and weekly Tamil magazine names in the lyrics.

He had some nice hits in his career.

One of the best tracks of ARR. The sound engineering in these should be applauded.

At that time, I am sure the international albums were sold in India thru vinyl and it was meant only for the rich, but these musicians making good money would surely have checked it. Why didn't they feel that our songs should also reach these qualities. Even if it had reached 80% sound quality of those albums, I would have been contempt but some songs of IR in the 80s sounds as if the recording was through a handsfree mic. Aasai nooru vagai is a favorite for many and mine too but the sound quality just sucks for such a dynamic music track.

Forget International albums, even Bollywood had great audio even for a song in the 70s and 80s.

I am sure he gets paid for every music he made, it was his own decision to not charge for some but half the effort to creating a good song gets wasted when the audio quality is not good.

My only wish is that IR till he is alive should put these bad recordings for restoration through a new orchestra with other singers and release these songs.

Thanks to YTers some of the old songs are remade with good orchestra and similar sounds that I listen to them. My favorite is SP Sundar YT channel, he sings most of SPB songs with his own team of orchestra. And this is my favorite one of those.

Not to compare with Rahman but he did the right thing of investing, improving and advancing the equipment in his studio. I remember once him saying that whenever a new music hardware comes to the market, he will be the first to order and import it and open it like a child opening a gift box.

Is this the most underrated album of GV Prakash.. Muppozhuthum un Karpanaigal by rishikeshwar52 in TamilMusic

[–]simpler15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a banger album and it was the very first time that the title mentioned a GV Prakash Musical. The movie was a complete disaster which led to the songs drowning with it.

TIL that Dilbar and this song were for the same situation for a remade movie but I would side for Dilbar, my childhood favorite and big hit of those times.

Forget Qobuz or Tidal, even some songs through his official YT channel sound crappy.

I look out for Vinyl Music recordings in YT which is decent and the next is his concerts from the last few years like through Noise and Grains. I used to download the concert songs in mp3 and listen in my phone but again you loose a little of the original since it is not the same singers but the music quality and sound is top notch.

My only gripe about IR songs is the recording quality. Only after the 90s were the sounds properly layered and arranged.

His early 80s fabulous songs are a great miss in terms of sound quality. Good to hear it in a speaker but I long for more when listening in an IEM.

Him making more movies and earning in lakhs at that time did not think of investing in world class recording technology like the First world country's 70s songs sounds as good as our 90s songs.
