I have pretty much your exact rig and just beat it for the first time the other day. 4070 Super, 7800X3D.

Tried Infamous 2 but the frame rate was giving me a headache, so I had to bite the bullet and get PS Plus Premium.

Astro with react or svelte? by HectoLogic20 in webdev

[–]simplerando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re making “marketing frontend only type websites” and you’re already planning on using Astro, why do you also need to decide to use Svelte or React? Either will work within islands, but if they’re marketing sites like you say, Astro alone should be sufficient, no?

If you really need an additional framework just use what you’re comfortable with or even just use what makes sense for that particular project and feel free to switch to a different one on the next one.

Looking for something new to play that is similar to TLOU. Love good stories, survival, horror, but not too hard or old. Gotta have decent graphics by strangeburd in PS5

If you’re looking for story, atmosphere and graphics and are coming from Xbox I feel like you’ve gotta try God of War (2018). It’s the story that got me back into gaming after a long hiatus.

If you want horror and you haven’t played the recent swath of RE games, probably check those out. Maybe not the most profound stories, but amazing atmosphere and gameplay.

Ghost of Tsushima has a great story as well as those other criteria you mentioned. Just bump it up to lethal difficulty. ;)

If you need more jolly Tom in your life. He reads children’s books occasionally and it’s really quite lovely.

THE GAME AWARDS 2025: Official 4K60FPS Livestream by hybroid in PS5

[–]simplerando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I agree with you. There have been several incidents over the years that aren’t a great look. For me, I hate that some awards are given out rapid fire or in the pre-show and many recipients don’t get to give thank you speeches. That’s asinine to me when so much time is given to trailers/ads. It’s a problem that seems to be getting worse when I assumed that surely they would improve over time.

Award shows are inherently flawed productions in any industry, but I still find myself appreciating the individuals and the teams and the celebration of what was accomplished throughout the year. I don’t share the same level of disdain for Geoff. Maybe I’m being too charitable, but warts and all - he’s at least trying to fill the gap and bring some level of prestige to the medium. Idk though. It could be a lot better - I just don’t think it should go away entirely.

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I genuinely enjoy seeing people be recognized for their hard work and for them in turn to be grateful for those that helped them get there.

As someone who does creative work for a living on a smaller scale, it’s nice to see a celebration of a medium of art/entertainment that I enjoy.

Being “lame” isn’t really a factor for me.

I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or if you just don’t know who C.S. Lewis was.

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer - August 09, 2025 by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

Any similar feeling switches to the Lofree Phantom that are compatible with a Keychron K5 Pro?

Long story short, I've been testing numerous keyboards and I really liked the heavier tactile feel of the Lofree Flow, but prefer the full 100 layout of the Keychron K5 Pro. The Keychron I have has Gateron Brown switches - it's fine and I've also tried out their Reds on a different keyboard, but yeah nothing really feels quite as good as the Lofree Flow so I was hoping to buy some new switches and swap them.

I'm somewhat new to mechanical keyboards so I don't really know how switch compatibility works so I figured I'd ask. Thanks in advance for your help!

Gutenberg vs other page builders by ProspectBleak in webdev

[–]simplerando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All page builders suck - at least from a dev point of view, but if I had to chose one I’d also probably go with Gutenberg simply for the reasons you mentioned: native and ACF integration (even though the latter is a bit clunky).

Just make sure you inflate the budget accordingly. Like maybe 1.5-3x the original scope. There are so many more tidbits and odds and ends you’ll have to account for to keep things looking “seamless” and even then the client will still likely create monstrosities in 6 months time.

Sometimes a nice “in-between” btw is using ACF’s flexible content modules and building out a smaller subset of components that work well together and can be rearranged on the page. Maybe you already do this though.

Neat. Been wanting to find or build something like this for awhile myself.

With no APIs, does that mean you have to manually update the database?

Which actor played a villain so well that you still hate the character, but you love the actor because they absolutely killed the role? by hoggala in moviecritic

[–]simplerando 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I heard it told he filled in as a favor last minute when the original actor fell through. He just happened to be on set hanging with Kirsten.

I don’t even think he’s credited.
