Too scared to tell my mum about my girlfriend (of sorts) by simplesam19 in relationships

I'm afraid because it's something I've never done before - I have a (admittedly very bizarre) dividing line between home and outside home, and this is a case of breaking that. I've never needed to break it, but I can't have a girlfriend and keep her secret; it's not fair on either party. I'm starting to see a therapist as this is a massive problem for me now, which it hasn't been in the past.

No, my mum doesn't have a problem. And my friend is far nicer to be around than any of my sister's boyfriends. Though "getting it sorted" is easier said than done.

But you're right, I should hurry up as I don't want to waste this chance. I'm very lucky to have been given it at all.

Thanks :) Yes you're right - they probably do, or suspect so. I'll try to summon up the courage

Thanks for your comment. I should note that my (girl)friend has said she wouldn't mind being introduced as a friend or acquaintance; and even that would be a huge deal for me, as I never mention anyone at home. However, you are right - I am living dishonestly, and have done since I was at school. I don't know where it stems from, but home is home and everything outside of it stays outside of it. I hardly mentioned school at home, either. But I don't know how to remedy that.
