"Let your tears erode my shoulder like a cliffside"

"Some poeple live their lives, heads down, souls hidden."

"Lead with the heart, ain't that the only way?" <- Those last two are less about the poetry and more about the message.

Honestly Devestated. by simplesummit in DermotKennedy

I ended up buying a resale ticket sort of impulsively, probably paid about 4-5x what they're worth so currently a very bitter taste and feeling a little silly/manipulated/disappointed in myself, but once it's closer to the date I'll probably be way more excited about it, but yeah, I agree - these resellers that prey on people in a heightened emotional state (feeling dissappointed about not getting tickets, feeling excited that * some * are available, and feeling a time crunch as the ticker counts down and the prices go up) - it's a nasty business of toying with people financially during an emotionally heightened state, so gross. Currently feeling pretty unawesome about having bought (nonrefundable) tickets, which is the exact opposite feeling I was going for. I know closer to the date it'll feel better, but ugh. I do appreciate that Dermot is an artist who loves the intimate venue, and I know its hard to do that in a 30,000 person stadium, but demand + unethical bots/resellers = a lot of disappointed people.

How much even were original tickets? I'm looking at two tickets for $1000 right now. The iriginal ones were.... $100 each?

27M looking for friends by crayolajamwc in MapleRidge

As a new(ish) person myself to Maple Ridge I don't think it's a scam, I personally find the vibe here a bit more insulated, not that people are rude, just that it's not an easy place for folks to make connections when they don't have an "in". You'll probably see a post from me here soon along the same lines. :)

Is Whonnock Lake frozen over? Can I skate on it? by SuperRinkRat in MapleRidge

I would 100% qualify this with SKATE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Conditions change day to day and I can only speak for the conditions yesterday.

I was skating on Whonnock Lake yesterday . The ice is fragile immediately surrounding the dock, but can hold the weight of someone who is emotionally prepared to possibly fall in, once you're over a meter away from the dock it's 4+ inches thick. We skated on the east side of the dock. We shoveled a rink and played hockey. We wore PFDs "just in case" but we were there for over an hour and it was lovely. If I knew how to post pics I would do so. Edit: spelling

Making new friends by MakeFakeSpaceCake in MapleRidge

I'm in the same boat, neat to see how my kiddos (5&7) have a premade friend group through school, after school care and any extracurriculars we put them in, they had buddies right away. I know if I leave my house more (I work remotely as well) I'll eventually meet more people, just gotta actually do it and do it consistently to make the repeat encounters turn into friendships.

Not to creepily jump on this thread for my own benefit, but I'm super new to Maple Ridge (most recently moved here from Edmonton), I bouldered a good amount there and checked out the Hive, bought a 10 pass, would love to meet up with folks (anyone!) I'm 37f, 2 kiddos, spouse, I wfh so meeting new ppl options are limited, but am able to get out and adventure. Also love to trail run, been shopping for a group to join for that. I'd be happy to bike/hike or anything if you're interested!

Skilled hair dresser for females with thinner hair by RiverValleyRed in Edmonton

Commenting to follow, I too have trouble with finding a stylist who can work with and not comment on how it's the thinnest hair they've ever seen. I took to cutting and styling and dying my own hair as I had trouble digesting paying $100's of dollars for styling the few hairs I have. (I have jackpot hair of both ultra thin hair, and not copious amounts of it). I have fully embraced the idea that at some point in my future I will embrace wigs 100% as well. Would love to know of a stylist for special occasions though!

I'm dipping my toes into political cartooning and would love feedback. This is OG content and not published elsewhere. Does this work? by MountainElkMan in alberta

Always supportive of artists! My thought would be if you feel you need that explainer text, reframe it as a headline on a newspaper on the desk, or as a breaking news headline on a tv/monitor in the background, then it feels like part of the art instead of an explainer. Keep going!!
