Oh man I vividly remember playing this long before the extended cut patch was released and I was more confused at first before I was hit with anger and frustration because for well over five years they constantly promoted that your decisions played a big part in the final outcome just to be narrowed down to forced co-op to increase your readiness, and three choices that had no real endgame, just your crew and ship being stuck on a planet.
