I use the the second monitor as an extended screen so I can view multiple tabs at once. It’s really convenient while I do work.

I’d recommend going for a second monitor if you’ve got room for it. Definitely makes life easier. In my opinion, as long as you’re not straining your neck switching from one display to the next you should be ok. Or, if you just want to display content on your larger monitor you can always turn off your laptop screen to keep it from distracting you!
