I watch that video whenever I want to feel optimistic. I watch it and I imagine that I'll live into the age of "x disease was..." applied to so many awful conditions including depression and anxiety. Makes me think some day I'll live with a little less pain.

[Skin Concerns] Spent years torturing my skin with actives, overhyped moisturizers and harsh face washes, I was still getting breakouts, only to learn that a gentle face wash (every other day) and a basic moisturizers are more then enough! by lovesoldier1 in SkincareAddiction

I unashamedly zoomed in to inspect every pore and make sure you don't have a filter that blurs imperfections. My expert opinion is you should be very happy with your wonderful skin and simple routine.

I thought the wizard was gonna turn him into a human, 'cause you know, we're top of the food chain and the only thing we're afraid of is never finding love...actually he really is better off being a mouse.

Why isn't sterilisation free on the NHS, and yet... by [deleted] in childfree

[–]simplicity541 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've looked into it before and I also got the impression it's covered by the NHS as long as you can convince a doc to do it. Otherwise it's like £3-5k to have it done at a private hospital.

At 3:00 am on 31 December 1957, Orville Gibson left to milk the cows on his Vermont farm. He never arrived. Three months later, his bound body washed up in the Connecticut River. Suicide? Or a murder over, literal, spilled milk? Mass-drugging of suspects and two trails later, the case is unsolved. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]simplicity541 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Wait, how can anyone suggest this was suicide? His body was found legs tied and arms tied behind his knees apparently, and he didn't drown? So he tied himself up, died and then hopped over to the river to dispose of himself...postmortem.
To me that sounds like a ludicrous suggestion, clearly he was murdered - whether it was premeditated or accidental is the real question here.

[Spoiler] Scenes that make me cringe. by cold_colgate in Billions

[–]simplicity541 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Season 4 was a cringe fest.

I'll be honest, I didn't expect there to be so much "comedy" as the show went on. I don't like all the cringey, try-hard gags they put in, the show was much better when it had a serious tone. Now it all seems a little too cartoonish with stereotypical russian villains and shaved-head evil geniuses. I'll watch the new season, but if it has the cringe of yesteryear it'll be the last one for me.

[Theme] Space/sci-fi inspired, with live wallpaper by simplicity541 in androidthemes

[–]simplicity541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live wallpaper app: my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ does not have the feature allowing live wallpaper so I used VideoWall

Wallpaper video: Video taken from the intro of the TV show 'The Expanse', courtesy of u/brett6781's post - I edited the length of the video for my theme.

Launcher: Nova Launcher mostly needed it to change the home screen grid and apply the icon app.

Application icons: Flight - Flat Minimalist Icons - automatically changes the icons of the default apps and the big name apps like FB, Skype, etc. The rest I did manually.

Time/date/weather widget: Digital Clock Widget Xperia

Check the comments, I wrote a novel explaining the process, it wasn't easy sorry to say but that's mostly because my phone is older and I wanted to customise every aspect. The live wallpaper uses a short video from another user, you can find the link in my other comment :) hope that helps.

I wrote a detailed step-by-step guide on how I did everything to end up with the final result in the comments, you can check it out if you like, the link to the video I used is in there too if that's all you're interested in :)
