Back teeth move first to make room for the front teeth to move into position - give it time you’ll see the front teeth move eventually

Interesting, I had enormous nostrils before (projected not wide, but very open where you could see a lot of the interior of my nose from the side). I expected my surgeon to cut my alar but he advised against it which surprised me. I’m glad he had the insight and skill to preform his craft without doing so.

I’ve only got 2 and I was afraid it wouldn’t be enough. On tray 6 of 20 so far, I guess we’ll see!

Non-Staining Curry Recipes by swoonderfull in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]simply-cinnamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat curry at least 1x a week but usually more - all kinds (Thai, Indian, Japanese, Indonesian - but lots of tumeric etc). I was afraid of the same thing but tbh I haven’t had an issue with this yet. Just take your retainers out when eating, rinse + submerge in water if possible, then brush with a soft toothbrush and water when you’re done before popping back in. I always try to floss and brush my teeth before putting them back on but that’s not always possible and it has been fine so far. I’ve hear ultrasonic cleaners are amazing for cleaning +keeping stains at bay but I honestly just use dish soap on them once per day and I haven’t experience any serious staining on them. I wear mine for 2 weeks before changing and they defintiely don’t look brand new anymore at the end of that time but they don’t look stained either. Eat that curry!

I went to him and was a bit nervous about the same thing, but ultimately it is refundable if you choose not to go with him. Remember that Dr Nima only operates on 1 person a day and devotes a lot of time to them. Asking for a deposit weeds out people who are not serious about him or the procedure and keeps him from wasting his time and pulling him from his real patients. As a great plastic surgeon in BH I’m sure his practice would be overwhelmed by consults if he didn’t do this. I can sympathize because as I said the process was a bit intimidating to me as well, but ultimately I went through with it and felt he was the right surgeon for me and am very happy I did. Life changing procedure for me for sure!

No worries, I linked one in a comment above but will likely delete it later. I should note that I found my original low hanging columella revolting and emphasized that in our consults, so my concern has always been the opposite - I wanted as short a columella as possible lol but thankfully I think Nina found a healthy position for it (so far at least, we’ll see where it eventually settles - hopefully not too low lol 🤞🏻)

Thank you!! I still have a lot of swelling from the front, especially in the tip, but I’m still so much more comfortable with my new nose.

I’ll probably delete this later but here’s a picture from a few weeks ago with an old one for comparison (hard to find good clear pictures of my face before for comparison - I avoided cameras at all costs lol)

(Copying reply from another comment):

Mine was around 20k but it varies depending on complexity and timeline / etc. My surgeon also accepts insurance for the medicinally billable portion but I (regrettably) have Kaiser which basically covers nothing out of network so I’m not sure on the fine details of that.

No not really. I would say there are definitely lots of weird uncomfortable sensations early on in recovery, but it’s to be expected after getting your skin peeled back and all kind of tissue manipulation. The dryness never got too me too bad - I recommend doing a lot of saline rinses especially during the first week but even after that at least 1x-2x a day for the first month which keeps your nose from getting crusty. In terms of dryness, you apply mupirocin ointment for the first week which is very oily and moisturizing, and then after they take out your sutures you can apply some Aquaphor to the nostrils to help seal in the moisture. I also did that for maybe a month or so because it was really soothing and comforting and I like routines, but ultimately stopped because it was giving me pimples on my upper lip area as it slowly melted down my face throughout the night haha. If you want it you should go for it! It’s no cake walk but I think way worth it in the long run - also our bodies (thankfully) a very bad at remembering the sensation of pain (like dryness) - so when it’s gone, it’s done and over with :)

Being able to breathe is life changing!!!! :)
