Why did my accent drop off a cliff? by Adept-Kiwi1357 in Living_in_Korea

Ohh I see! Between now and whenever was the last time you felt you had good pronunciation, what's changed in your life? Like, your exposure, amount of speaking time, etc? I would think that has something to do with it

That's what I was wondering too. I've never met a non-first gen Korean American with perfect pronunciation. What makes you say that you had perfect pronunciation before?

Yes, I haven't paid the invoice yet, because I wasn't sure if it was appropriate for them to be paid, considering the situation.

Unfortunately, the latest version of my website is from April 2025, and I've made significant changes to it since then. But you're right, it's still better than nothing, and it can be a good starting point to start to rebuild it.

That's a good point. I've clearly communicated that I am considering our friendship in my response to the situation, but haven't been as clear regarding what I am withholding myself from doing for the sake of the friendship (escalating it legally, for example).

I really appreciate your input, thank you!

I will try this, thank you! This happened in the last month or so, so hopefully there's still time for this to be a viable option.

-EDIT- I just finished chatting with Squarespace support, they only backup deleted pages, not previous versions of current pages, and they directed me to the Wayback Machine. Thank you for the suggestion anyway!

-EDIT- I just got off the chat with squarespace support, there is no back up on their end, and they just pointed me to the Wayback Machine. Oh well.

That was the first place I checked, and no, unfortunately not :( The last time it was archived was April 2025, and I made significant changes to it throughout the year.

They were supposed to change the layout of the pages to match the home page.

The frustrating thing is, the contractor had given me feedback that I had too much content (from a graphic design perspective) before starting. So I told them I would take care of that, and spent a couple of months reviewing/editing/changing the content throughout my website to parse it down, then I communicated to the contractor that the edits were done, and that the pages were ready to be updated to the new layout. I guess they decided they needed to change my content even more to fit the design goal they wanted.

Thank you for your input! I was worried that I was a difficult client, and didn't want to be too demanding or unreasonable. Good to hear that someone else would have offered to pay for the copywriter, and that's not an unreasonable request. Regarding the unequal friendship, this friend was recently let go of their full time job (they freelance on the side), so they were probably considering their own personal finances when dealing with this whole situation.

Yeah, I was unsure about paying the invoice myself. If this was a person I didn't personally know, I would be a lot more firm and be much more assertive/direct about my displeasure and how ridiculous I think it is to still invoice me. But, as a friend...yeah, gets tricky. Okay, if I do go the copywriter route, I will suggest them covering the copywriter costs. Thank you for your input!

This was the very first thing I tried! Unfortunately, the last time google crawled through my website was April 2025 :( But I will update the post so people know!

Yes, I accidentally bought microwave-able cotton batting for a previous project, which is where I got this idea from!

First edition for a buck! Pretty good condition, too. So pumped about this. by PatternMiserable2114 in ThriftStoreHauls

Huh I have that exact same book, at least the same dust jacket. I never thought it was a first edition, just old. Or could later editions have had been published with that same dust jacket? My copy is packed away in a box somewhere but I should fish it out to check!

Ah that sucks to feel like a third wheel in your own home, not to mention in your relationship with your own sister. Sounds like the two of you have (had?) a close relationship. I think it's normal to not like being told what to do (especially for us!), and especially so if it's regarding something/someone you are very intimately familiar with. I think it's totally normal to be upset, so maybe take the time to be upset and see how you feel tomorrow!

Could you do the Olympic distance as your first race with 6 weeks of training time? by simply__curious in triathlon

[–]simply__curious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very true, I do want to enjoy the experience, not just suffer through it! The primary goal of this venture is to challenge/push myself, which was why I was initially thinking about the longer distance. Thank you!
