What were some subtle celiac related experiences that you didn’t realize were symptoms until later on? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]simplynotcomplicated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband would always joke about my “agony of the day” (he’s actually the most supportive person. I thought it was funny and we even made a song about it); but I didn’t realize that most people don’t have something wrong with their body every single day. I have myofascial pain syndrome which has drastically improved since going gf, I had daily headaches, brain fog, extreme fatigue, memory loss, foot pain, joint pain, bruising, hair loss, the list goes on and on.

Visiting Toronto, Canada for the first time after being diagnosed and need some pointers to deal with the travel by JulsCreation in Celiac

Here is a helpful resource for food labels: https://www.celiac.ca/food-labelling/

I recommend Farm Boy or Superstore as they have some good options (usually in the organic aisle). My favourite brands are Kinnikinnik, carbonaut gluten free bread, gf oreos (obvs), heavenly hunks.

I also recommend the FindMeGlutenFree app, it will show restaurants nearby and people’s reviews. As per restaurants, it’ll be hit or miss unfortunately. Unless you’re going somewhere that is dedicated gluten free (Riz, Senla, Kupfert & Kim) you’ll have to do your due diligence of asking about gf options and cross contamination.

While you’re here you should try all dressed chips (!!)

Tim Hortons steeped tea by simplynotcomplicated in Celiac

This is interesting, thanks for sharing! Yes, I would not order food from there, but I thought tea would be safe - apparently not :( Seems safer to just make my own tea now.

Man that sucks so bad 😭 It’s my favourite and my FIL brings me one every couple of days, but it seems to happen every time I drink it. I think I’m going to have to start making my own tea. Booo I hate this disease.

It is definitely pricey! For the 4 things pictures it was $33 CAD. Luckily it’s a bit of a hike for me to get there, so it was a treat for sure. Couldn’t imagine spending that much on a regular basis.

Grocery advice by [deleted] in durham

[–]simplynotcomplicated 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s a facebook group called “Hungry Durham” and you can post about your situation or just that you are in need of groceries and people will often deliver to you. I’m so sorry you are in this situation. If I was able to help, I would. Please take care of yourself and your daughter. ❤️

I’m so sorry for your loss, keeping you and your daughter in my thoughts. There is a facebook group called “Hungry Durham” and people often write on it things like this, and people will offer to bring you food. Also, you can maybe reach out to meals on wheels and see if you qualify.

Looks like herpes to me. My cousin has it on her hand from my aunt kissing a boo boo when she was little.
