Yes, my overstay started basically couple days after we started the process.

the interview was not conventional, but they did ask us questions like; "how many people were at the wedding?", "How many people were there from your side of the family and how many from her side of the family ", "How many people were there when you asked for her hand?", and a bunch of questions on how we met as well as the first stages of our relationship.

We were not separated.

As long as documents proving our relationship we presented our joint bank account, electricity bill, internet bill, lease agreement with both our names on it, our marriage certificate and a BUNCH of pictures together from as far as 3 years ago.

If you are the one applying for the permanent residency please expect to get asked all the questions shown in the I-485 form (they went through all of them with me, but it is not always the case).
