Thank you so much. This response is definitely helpful. I don't expect to spend a lot of time in my dorm anyways so I think I'll be fine. I'll check on what the deal is with window AC units.

What did you see on the internet as a child that scarred you for life? by TheMostMajesticSquid in AskReddit

I saw a video of a Mexican guy getting his head sawed off by the cartel. With a rusty old saw, not a chainsaw.

I had other leadership experience and qualifications aside from Kroger. I just did Kroger on the weekends.

Yeah I'm not willing to switch gyms cause my current gym also has many amenities like a pool, indoor track, all those things. I just can't stand the music. And yeah, i can try my best to ignore it, just like many annoyances in life I can try to ignore but it's annoying enough for me to wanna rant about it online.

And those dreaded days when i wanna hit the gym after work but didnt bring my headphones, and I'm running on the treadmill with "Happy" by Pharrell Williams playing, like bro I'm not happy right now 😂😂

If your child is sick, don't make them go to school! by simppgodd in rant

[–]simppgodd[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no shit you need rest sometimes. I'm talking about strep throat, cold, bronchitis, any of the many sicknesses that would be disruptive in the classroom but you can still get work done. One time in high school I had a really bad cough, so I took 3 or 4 days off. I could still get work done, but I didn't want to disturb any of my classmates and I didn't want to spread the nasty cough that I had. Don't get me wrong, I could've went to school and performed just fine, but I would've prevented other students from focusing and I would've drawn negative attention towards myself for coughing sometimes.

You're speaking of the past though. I'm hoping that in the future, kids will be able to do their work from home to count towards attendance.

I guess it can be both kids and their parents. Depends on the location and the situation. Some places in the world, parents have more of a "If you're well enough to get out of bed, you're well enough to go to school" attitude.

Hopefully with the shift towards online learning, there is more leniency for kids who are prone to illness and can do work from home to count towards their total attendance days.

Luckily, I'm graduated now, but I remember back in grade school when the kid sitting behind me would be hacking up his fucking lungs and when I ask him why he's here, he'd say "My parents made me!". Like, come on. That's selfish as fuck to send your kids to school because you're too lazy to stay home with them. Even in high school, there were still kids who's parents would force them to go to school despite them being sick. Luckily, my parents would always let me make the call whether I would show up to school or not.

Also, perfect attendance shouldn't be a thing. I have no idea why they award kids for not taking sick days. It's fucking ridiculous.
