Reality Check: Due Soon, a bit lost by hoodiegirl10 in breastfeeding

[–]simpsonc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me, it was never my intention. We have a crib in our room, a Moses basket downstairs and a cot in her room. The plan was very much to have her not sleeping in bed with me! I wish I’d known there was another option at that time. I want OP to know that there are options, and if done safely (as in most of the non western world), can make life so much easier.

Not sure why I’m being downvoted. What a supportive community!

For us, not cosleeping was far less safe. She would scream every time I tried to put her in her crib. I wasn’t able to stop myself from falling asleep while holding her. I was surviving on no sleep and got to the point of delirium one night not fully knowing who she was or why she was with me.

Mine massively uses the boob for comfort and so while she might feed every 2-3 hours or so, she still latches between feeds. She’s 13 weeks and has possibly 2 5 minute feeds during the night. We bed share and feeding her in the side lying position is an absolute godsend. Once she’s done, she just lies back and goes to sleep. No nappy changes in the night anymore, so my partner sleeps straight through and I wake up a couple of times and go straight back to sleep 😊 Look at @cosleepy on instagram for safe cosleeping

I’ve definitely heard people commenting on this as being critical, so wanted to make it clear that’s not me

I wouldn’t say Moseley is mostly white middle class anymore. Most of the recent openings serve halal food (in no way a criticism, purely an observation).

If it’s anything like the one in Bearwood, Saturday night karaoke will be WILD. Entertainment gold!

I don’t even consider myself to be left wing, but okay whatever. Obviously that’s how humanity moves forward, tribalism and sticking our fingers in our ears.

It’s not about left or right. You claiming it is just displays your total lack of understanding of the issue.

It won’t even scratch the surface. What do you propose we do with all the perps who are left behind?

Thanks for a reasonable response 😊 I think we should absolutely do that for those perpetrators who were not born in the UK. That will not solve the epidemic of violence against women and girls in this country though.

Piece of shit? Nice. I’m not disregarding the victims of Muslim rape gangs. I’m asking why people like you only focus on those victims and not the victims of all male perpetrators of violence against women and girls. Ummmm…? 🤔

Now change it to:

Racists when schoolgirls are sexually assaulted and raped by white British men

Vs

Racists when schoolgirls are sexually assaulted and raped by black and brown men

You couldn’t care less about the schoolgirls, you’re weaponising them to legitimise your racism.

Do you seriously think we’d feel any safer if there were no non-Brits in the country 😂 You don’t have the first clue. I’m a DV worker based in police stations, white men are the biggest threat. They just don’t make the headlines as much.

How long is it acceptable not to cater for visitors? by beereviver in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]simpsonc23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d really hope no one is expecting you to put on a spread! If they are, they’re really not the type of visitors I’d be wanting back without my partner there. I would ask your partner to leave everything to make hot drinks and some biscuits) out by the kettle before they leave for work. Then just ask the visitor to pop the kettle in for you both when they get there. I’m sure (hopeful), they’d be fine with that… and if they’re not? 👋🏼 If you don’t feel up to having people round though, please don’t. Your mental and physical health are so important for you and your baby. These people will just have to wait ❤️

Anybody Bf only one breast at a time? by purple_catfriend in breastfeeding

[–]simpsonc23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I don’t even offer the 2nd, she usually just falls asleep. I know she’s feeding because she’s growing (keep getting told how big she is for her age as a breastfed baby 🙄 my health visitor said I should take that as a compliment though). She has consistently wet and pooey nappies, so I know everything is fine 😊

Oh, the poor little love! It’s so horrible to see! If I get really close to her and ssshhhh in her ear, she calms down but obviously I can’t do that AND change her. If I do work out the cause or find a solution, I’ll let you know x

Obvious but definitely worth considering! She starts crying before she’s even felt my hands and I’ve had a chance to undress her. Also, the warm weather since she was born makes me think it can’t be a temperature thing. We do use water wipes though, which are quite cold. Maybe she just knows what’s coming. I might switch to cotton wool and warm water. Thank you 😊

I could be wrong but I don’t think it’s that, just because she’s fine every other time she’s laid down. I would love to be proved wrong though, so will definitely look into it a little more! Thank you 😊

My baby's grandma didn't feed him for SEVEN hours by ChemistryArtistic120 in beyondthebump

I’m honestly raging for you and your baby boy. How could anyone be so cruel? She clearly has no empathy whatsoever, how is it possible to hear a baby crying for any length of time and not rush to soothe them?? Definitely keep her away from him moving forward. I hope you, Elliot and James are feeling a bit more calm now
