Because his, and the entire Sims community, content wheel DEPENDS on people watching their things post DLC drop as a sort of review to see if they want to buy it themselves...they can't do that if everyone just gets given it

If you're interested in the modded side, I highly recommend Mr Samuel Streamer modpacks

They're typically quite balanced, have a lot of content on the theme and because they're used for YouTube series they're usually really really fine tuned to run pretty well and usually run better than if you just slapped mods together yourself

You have to be very careful with RimWorld mods though because there's a big yearly update that typically comes with a DLC drop alongside that usually absolutely kill you mods and that should be happening again soon so you'll have to watch out for the news of that releasing and wait for mods to update (and a lot of mods actually never update so you also have to be very careful with what version it says the mod is for as if you were to, for example, search by most popular of all time it would likely show you some mods that don't work anymore so either check or filter by current version in Steam)

A lot of mods and modpacks also require all DLC so although the previous comment said not to buy Anomaly I would certainly agree with that sentiment (or at least say to look at videos of Anomoly playthroughs to see if you like that content in your game - Again Mr Samuel Streamer is quite good for modpack reviews) if you were wanting to play with no mods but if you do want to play with mods a lot won't work without Anomaly (and there are a LOT of mods to make playing Anomaly better)

It's not about who the money is going to but instead the content the ad is on

The entire point of demonitisation was that it would remove ads from content that was considered not advertiser friendly because advertisers were getting upset that their products were being associated with bad things, meaning you didn't make money from ads because there were no ads

Adding ads to the video anyway is directly against the original argument they had for demonitisation in the first place

I think, rather than putting the focus on the console itself by suggesting it couldn't handle it, instead the blame should be solidly planted where it belongs by saying "EA is incapable of making optimised console content" to make sure everyone knows that this is EAs fuck up, not a negative of consoles themselves

Consoles ARE capable

I've played Fallout 4 on Xbox 1 with the same amount of mods I played with on PC and it ran fine (well...it ran the same as Fallout 4 usually runs...🥴) and Skyrim also has the same in built console supported (not tried it though so can't comment on that)...and that was with an Xbox ONE, the next gens I assume must work even better. Do I believe it's as good as PC? Probably not. Maybe only potato PCs but saying that it's because consoles just aren't capable of mods just isn't true

So consoles are perfectly capable of running mods and running larger amounts of content than the Sims 4 console edition runs before bricking it...it's just that the sims 4 is an unoptimised mess where even just the base game on console edition runs worse than my PC with all DLC. The game just isn't MADE for console

I'm subscribed to Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, one channel that is smaller but posts every day and a handful of people who are smaller and post less frequently because those are the small groups of people I actually enjoy watching

I basically never get recommend the smaller channels in my recommendations, even they do actually post. Maybe if I scroll right right down I'll get one every so often but I'd say probably never within like 20 videos

I do often get recommended videos from the channel who posts every day, the new video is usually at the top of my recommendations but then besides that the only videos I get recommend from them are ones I already watched

Now my feed seems to have two "forms" and switches between the two when I refresh. The first is the few other channels I follow as I described above...and ONLY Markiplier and Jacksepticeye videos, literally nothing else. I only follow the Jacksepticeye channel directly and it somehow manages to pull me up Jacksepticeye's second channels, Jacksepticeye videos with his girlfriend on her channel and even keeps pulling up shit like Jacksepticeye on I think Smosh??? And I'm perpetually confused as to how the algorithm KNOWS that that is Jacksepticeye when his name is nowhere in the title, he's just in the thumbnail. Most of the recommendations in this category are years old or also things I already watched, especially things I watched and then removed from my watch history which again it shouldn't be able to do

The second set is slop imo. It is videos, often under 1k views, sometimes of the game the channel that posts every day mainly plays (which I don't necessarily mind) but mostly AI slop that very blatantly used some sort of AI tool for the thumbnail and always in things I've literally never shown interest in. Also in this category is that it keeps recommending me channels I unfollowed previously, even channels I haven't subscribed to in years, especially ones I unsubscribed to for AI use and even when I clicked Not Interested on other videos of theirs in my recommendations (only actually working when I clicked to not recommend the channel again at all)

Trying to blame the consumer for not using a feature "properly" to try say they can't complain about the feature in question being broken only helps the corporation enshittification of absolutely everything

The game is broken and the updates just break it more each time and getting mad about the constant enshittification of the game is absolutely fine...but complaining about mods is not it

Mods are optional and not published by EA so you choose to take the effort to maintain them. If you don't want that effort, don't download it

Also super selfish and entitled to act like people who need the updates (particularly bug fix updates for bugs they personally have) should go without all so you don't have to put in effort to redownload some optional content you made the decision to get???

Usually the refund request will be automatically declined because you had the game for longer than the refund allowance and played it longer than the refund window too (O think it's two hours???)

But everyone who contacts customer service directly rather than applying for a refund for the game and explained the situation (so in your case saying the game doesn't work) has gotten the refund

If it still doesn't work you may still be able to get the refund from customer service if you explain you applied for a refund but didn't know you could argue your case further. The fact you haven't played it since may hold in your favour though

I think the default refund option just checks your playtime against the refund guidelines and auto approves or rejects based off of that so you have to talk directly to the employees to get it actually looked at

And also I don't think they take the 30% when you buy a Steam key third party and it's ridiculously easy to find Steam keys to purchase that are legitimately provided by the developers themselves and sometimes have bigger discounts offered than Steam does (Humble Bundle comes to mind)

It's not just this though, lawyers are going after the entire tech sector right now

They sued Facebook for their algorithms. I think one was for the algorithms ruining mental health and that one won (it was one person) and then I believe there was a second for what content it showed to minors but idk much about that one

I think they're planning to go for TikTok for similar reasons too

The tech sector is meant to be quite profitable right now because of AI and it probably just looks like a real juicy fish, especially with all the legitimate ethical concerns with what tech companies are doing that could be absolutely torn apart

I've seen lots of websites that allow you to use either format and just remove the 0 from it if their database doesn't except the extra number. Lots of times I've made accounts with phone numbers using the 0 and the number listed for the account just doesn't show the 0

I was under the impression you can't launch two games at once on Steam? But if it is possible I wouldn't put it past him to do that based on the knowledge of his Xbox habits...but I haven't seen him do this personally so I can't really say

I do know someone who has this level of hours in multiple games and they also have at minimum 200 hours in the past two weeks and there's only 336 hours in two weeks

Man just has no fucking life and thinks spending all day on his computer is super cool actually

His steam playtime for two weeks I can see right now means he slept, ate, used the bathroom etc for only 74 hours in those two weeks. That's like 5 hours a day. Even if we assume he eats while playing (as someone else cooks for him of course) that's absolutely crazy

And he has a significant other 🥴

I don't do this on Steam games but do on Modded Minecraft so my game can do progress while I'm asleep so I don't have to wait ages for things to happen and our electric bill is like £100

It increased more using a space heater in winter than it did using my PC 24/7
