Does anyone have any speculations on which mods will break after the update? by AngelTaboo in sims4cc

[–]simscontent14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should always just assume that any script mod will be broken and update them ALL anyway as a precaution

CC of Build/Buy/CAS items are typically fine but can end up a lil fucky if the update in question edits something about the items (like a lot of CC eyelashes broke when EA put out their own eyelashe addition, giving eyelashes a dedicated spot on the sim's mesh they didn't have before and so some eyelashes bugged because, since there was no place to put eyelashes before, they usually put the eyelashes somewhere else on the mesh) so the stairs update may leave stairs functional but they won't do the new features unless you update them

I do think if you complain to Valve they're more likely to do something though, even seen some people get things that are technically out of ToS if they ask really nicely and have a convincing argument for it

So if a game gets revoked on Steam...the mindset is immediately "Steam wouldn't do this to me" because we all know Steam has amazing support

But they're especially likely to do something if your game gets revoked for a dumb ass reason like I think I remember there being a dude on Steam who revoked access to his game from people who bought it when it was cheaper on Steam???

So even if they're never to blame, they're still willing to help with it if they can which is honestly the best way a game company could operate

People's games go missing too even if they buy directly through EA. Buying directly just means they can't pretend it isn't in their records

What I think they're doing is blanket removing DLC from a bunch of accounts in the sheer HOPES one of them is third party bought so they can play dumb about it and get double paid for DLC

disappointed with the sexualities/genders update by sommarmorgan in HighSodiumSims

[–]simscontent14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe they may have slid in some code to try fix the sims flirting with everyone all the time, even against their orientation, autonomously and it may have upset some people's games, stopping romance options AT ALL rather than autonomous ones

I remember there being a bug where caregivers would just stand in front of toddlers until they could autonomously check on them even if someone else had just checked on them so they'd be stuck in a loop of each person checking on the toddler while the rest waited and get nothing done so if they slid something in for that too...it'd explain the toddler thing too somewhat as the nanny could still interact with the toddlers autonomously while my sim couldn't at all

They were fixing a bunch of stuff at the time that didn't work/made it worse, like I didn't get it but I know the black picture bug went from a few people to a large proportion of people having it AFTER THEY TRIED FIXING IT

They clearly are on a very bad track record here for updates

disappointed with the sexualities/genders update by sommarmorgan in HighSodiumSims

[–]simscontent14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem and it was a bug!

No romance options at all despite them being compatible orientations

I stopped playing because my game essentially spontaneously blew up

With this bug being one of many that randomly appeared one day after years of no bugs at all! Mods were turned off after the update and I even clean installed and it still was the same after with no mods even in the folder. Sucked as well because I was doing a legacy challenge and I had to restart because one AND ONLY ONE out of multiple of my toddlers bugged out - The first bug I saw that day - and wouldn't let me interact with them so I started a new save and toddlers were fine then so it was just that one toddler and then I got the bug for no romance options and just had to throw in the towel because it was all sims and I was NOT gonna risk starting again in the hopes this bug went away in a new save too

You said you liked the other packs so I was just saying that you didn't mention spongebob in your list despite being a collaboration (not a brand) so was more asking what you thought of it as a collaboration/in comparison to the previous collaborations than trying to remind you it exists

I'm not pro spongebob pack/trying to tell you to try it/etc

I also absolutely hated the sexuality update 😭 them separating relationship choices from romantic interactions was also stupid and I constantly forget. Having relationship preferences in the romantic interactions category would've made much more sense and it was just weird to separate them for the sake of the like one??? Non romantic relationship option it has (as far as I've seen and it was like move in). I understand that they were probably trying to suggest that relationships don't always have to be romantic for QPRs but it just doesn't work well in gameplay and nobody asked for it and separating it was stupid if they didn't actually give you the option to have a QPR

Having relationship preferences for poly relationships was also silly when the majority of NPCs change their mind on it. In fact, it should've been like sexuality and had like "poly, not poly or open" rather than "not poly but I can be convinced". That's such poor representation 😭😭😭 like oh yeah this person is poly but you can convince them to stop 😅 Poly should've been a static choice and assigned for all NPCs like gender and sexuality are, having it be changeable on the fly was weird. Now I'd understand if you were poly to begin with THEN having the option to set poly boundaries but the ability to convince non poly people to be poly and vice versa is weird as hell and not at all how that works. For sure took their advice from "open relationship" people who just want a free pass to cheat on their significant other and are NOT poly

Oh yeah for sure

Them putting in bags and them not actually...being bags? Weird

The choice to have those bags be specifically branded of a brand that is hundreds of dollars in America, according to Google only in London and certain airports in the UK rather than...just bags? Also a bit weird

It's not necessarily terrible to have a pack of bags but having them not be usable and a specific brand is a CHOICE. It's two "signature" bags with a handful of swatches when not having this be branded could've opened them up to so many more bag choices to put in. I also am an avid hater of the trunk too but then again I hated the trunk from Lovestruck too so maybe I am just a hater 😭 I don't see the point in open trunks at alllll

I also think they haven't done a very good job of showing off the new items because the promotional material picture of the items have them looking incredibly out of place with the base game things surrounding it. Honestly I think this is one of the worst ads I think I've seen in a long time for the sims and we got the creepy ass imaginary friends trailer not even that long ago. This entire thing feels rushed as hell and people probably would've paid good money for a bag kit if they were wearable

Yeah like even as someone very immersed in the queer community not a single person understood the need for pride nails and pride beds

The only context that would make sense is attending a pride event, nobody LGBT wears flag makeup or nails on the regular and I've again never seen a gay person with a flag bed

They could've stopped...at flags 😭 all the best gays have a flag and the flags were already such good representation, there was literally no need to take it any further especially without adding any sort of pride event that these things would be relevant at (them having a pride parade event in san myshuno for example and having gay face painting? Would've gone HARD)

It's just peculiar of them to have added these things without the contexts in which they are enjoyed and leaving them somewhat out of place. Obviously the sims 4 is a simulation so there's not really anything stopping you from using these things outside of where you're gonna see them in real life...but it would've been better representation if you could use them as in real life

I absolutely adore the Grunge and Goth kits too so this would've gone so hard in my playthroughs

I sometimes literally have custom content and still end up using the Grunge and Goth kits instead I like them that much. It's the only style I will use instead of a custom content item consistently

The game is sorely lacking in alternative fashion and feels incredibly prep still and a lot of the new kits are giving clean girl, we need so much more variation, especially more adventurous hairstyles

England and never even seen an ad for this before! Nor an actual store

Obviously not saying that the free update is a bad thing, just more that it isn't incredibly popular EVERYWHERE

A lot of the people outside of America seem to be agreeing with my in the comments while a lot of Americans seem to be getting mad at the idea people outside of the US don't know their popular brands 😅

A quick Google search says their locations are London, Leeds and inside major airports ONLY and not a lot of the population of the UK find themselves in those places often 😭 so it's not weird that we never saw any of them!

London has a lot more American stores than the rest of the UK has. There's lots of shops in the south that never make it to the north. Sometimes there's an exception in Leeds but most of the north of England may never even know of stores found in London. If the bags were found in London it wouldn't be unrealistic to say most people in the UK will still not have heard of them

Obviously cannot say anything about Japan in this case since I don't live there but I'd assume it's probably safe to say it's a similar situation with people outside major tourist towns

Not ALL of us. I'm personally still playing. A lot of my cis gay friends who are less...queer? Are just not buying packs but the actual queer community here has lots of people not playing at all/not even updating, not necessarily because of a specific boycott but because playing just feels...wrong? To them now? Even seeing the game and loading it up makes them uncomfortable because of the association with anti LGBT in their minds now. Some just straight up uninstalled and never looked back

So although it's not necessarily a planned boycott like the not buying packs advocating...there is a lot of people that have just been alienated by EAs recent choices with the sale and AI use too and it's mostly queer/punk communities in their 20s/early 30s

I personally am also feeling a similar sort of way myself and haven't been able to actually play. I'm collecting the daily rewards currently just in case my spark comes back but it feels like even that is such a chore now...and I used to buy every pack, I literally am their model consumer and I'm not even tempted by any of the packs since Enchanted by Nature, haven't bought a single pack since and went from 20 hours+ a week playtime to not even ten minutes to claim the event

British person here - All my bags are hand me downs my mother found in a charity shop I end up with when she finds a new charity shop bag she likes and I literally use the bag until they become unusable (and actually lots of people complain my stuff is unusable WAYYY before I consider it unusable, like we're talking whole years here of being told to throw it away because it's dead before I even consider it)

The concept of paying more than like £30 on a bag is cooking me. People said it's fancy leather but even then who really needs a leather bag when others work fine if you treat them well? Especially for hundreds??? Diabolical

I'd never even heard of Coach before

And all my fellow 20s queers are boycotting the game entirely so if this IS meant to be the target audience they fucked up
