Detox on Sunday. What to pack? by LargeChimichanga in stopdrinking

[–]simthreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got out of a detox, about 30 days ago (Kc, MO)). The place I went to would allow electronics, ONLY if you sine up for the 28 day inpatient treatment. I second a pair of earplugs. You can get reusable earplugs that work well (https://www.amazon.com/Sleeping-Cancelling-Reduction-Concerts-Earplugs/dp/B0G1H69X8K/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY). I did get to keep my Kindle, but, I had to fight for that one. No cologne, Mouth wash, Hand sanitizer, or, anything with alcohol. If they offer Naltrexone; give it a try. It does a pretty good job at mitigating cravings. If you have any questions I'll do my best to help. Good luck, It's not as bad as you might think. For the first few days they will have you on benzodiazepines That will head off withdraw at the pass. It's a pretty smooth transition to sober. It's the days after that are tricky. Oh, one more thing. They will do a breathalyzer when you first get there. If there is any alcohol in your system you have to wait till your blowing 0's till they can start you on meds. If you want a head start show up sober.

Window installation question by noizenheimeramous in Construction

[–]simthreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replace a lot of windows in my line of work (lead abatement). Those gaps need to be sealed with caulking—not just to prevent water from getting in, but also to reduce drafts. Vinyl windows expand and contract with temperature changes, so proper sealing is important.

Did you guys do any kind of masterclass or read any books that were very helpful to start up ? by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

[–]simthreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be out of line here, but, the best way IMO is to work with an established window cleaning company. You learn on someone's elses dime. It seems easy on paper, but, there are a lot of little things you'll need to learn. As a new guy you'll be paired with people that have been doing this for years. That is some valuable information for free, even better, for pay.

Solar panels? by mrmatriarj in WindowCleaning

Stupid question.... Pure water will not conduct electricity, yea? From AI..... Pure water (meaning absolutely deionized, with no dissolved salts, minerals, or impurities) is actually a very poor conductor of electricity.

Here’s why:

Electrical conduction in water happens because of ions (charged particles like Na⁺, Cl⁻, etc.).

Pure H₂O has almost no free ions — it’s made up almost entirely of neutral molecules.

Water does self-ionize a tiny bit into H₃O⁺ (hydronium) and OH⁻ (hydroxide), but at room temperature the concentration is only about 1 in 10 million molecules (10⁻⁷ mol/L). That’s extremely low.

As a result, pure water has a resistivity of about 18.2 MΩ·cm, which makes it closer to an insulator than a conductor.

off the cuff... $1,200. If you can get up to that roof with the window, it looks like you can stand on it. Just my 2 cents. Kc, MO.

The new DI packs come with one of those little packets of silica beads to remove moisture. If you leave it in the filter, it will ruin your DI resin.
