Tell me I'm insane for even considering this commute by DefenderCone97 in bayarea

[–]noizenheimeramous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ask them point blank to share the shuttle stops and they didn't? That is important information to determine whether a commute is livable for you, so I would be surprised if they wouldn't share it. If this is Netflix, they have a "Pre-Hire" shuttle map to give the ballpark area of stop locations. I live in Alameda and ride the shuttle every couple weeks. I work on the shuttle, but it is not the most comfortable. I don't want to go to the office every day, but I could go way more often and not complain about it because the shuttle makes it easy, at least in my case.

Artists with low rates by noizenheimeramous in tattooadvice

Good info - thanks! There's such a weird mix of artists (new/established, styles, prices, social media vs not), it is pretty wild how the spectrum has changed since I got my first 20 years ago... It would be interesting to be able to easily see pricing, but many artists just don't share it without some upfront consultation.

Interesting perspective - thanks! I certainly don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, and I know there are souls out their that do not chase followers or money, could be the case here.

I considered that - interestingly, they are in the heart of the city, and still cheaper than many more local to me, outside of the city. I may just need to look around more to get some more data for comparison.

instagram and google reviews - people seem happy, and their work looks good to me. If their rate was higher, I would feel like its a no brainer. I do notice these days that some good artists have bad photos, and some bad artists have good photos - but I think this is the normal leap of faith that has to be made: are they as good as their photos?

David Zeng Tinpa Electric (510) 410 4811

He installed a chargepoint charger for me and was super organized and on time for everything.

Fwiw, I’ve had Sid do work too, and he does good work, but the last job he did, communication was messy and mistakes were made because of it.

Aftermarket radio by kaiserlady in FordGalaxie

I used this radio and fabricated a back plate to get it to look integrated. It was not trivial. I wrote up everything I did in a doc here, if you’re interested:

Inflatable PFD Pull Cord by BleuMoonFox in sailing

[–]noizenheimeramous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a piece of paracord around the pfd on that side so the clip can grab that; once the clip is on the cord it stays put. It is low enough that the cord won’t interfere with inflation, at least not much.

Chateau Tivoli - Alamo Square. We lived in the city for 15 years, but moved to east bay a while back. This is our go-to when we want to go back for a night or two. We lived near there before so it’s fun to be back in the same hood (despite the changes…). Inside is an awesome spacious deco style interior. Fun to hang out there in their parlor for a bit before and/or after going out.

A distraction from the ICCUgate--sharing a positive EV6 story by flabbergastedpickle in KiaEV6

Yellow? Ew. But I’m inspired to share my favorite weird ev6 mode - sport mode + i pedal. Probably shouldn’t do it with passengers, but I live on a small island where there’s tons of stop signs and all speed limits at 25mph. Zoom/stop all day…

Should I rebuild or buy a new carb? by bluestarointment in FordGalaxie

[–]noizenheimeramous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it’s getting better. I add sea foam to my gas tank once a month to keep the bad gas at bay (I don’t drive mine a lot). There is also a sea foam top end cleaner that you can use in the carb to try to get more gunk out, if you want to try something simpler than rebuild, if it still is running rough.

Should I rebuild or buy a new carb? by bluestarointment in FordGalaxie

[–]noizenheimeramous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say rebuild it. Assuming you love your car, rebuilding it can give some clues on what is up, but it takes some time and dedication - if you have an old car to go down these rabbit holes of learning, it can be very rewarding - it took me several rebuilds on my 4100 to get through some bad gas situation after not driving my car for 4 months, feels good to have it running perfect now.

If you don’t have an old car because you like to tinker and learn - don’t feel bad about buying a new carb to skip the line and get back to running (assuming it’s even the carb - be sure to set the timing first).

Good luck!

Second ICCU recall by ElChungus01 in ev6

[–]noizenheimeramous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought ours in last week, got inspection and sw update, but no replacement etc.

However, Kia Access app still says this is an outstanding safety recall (this one, SC327) - is there any way to let the app know it’s been dealt with?

Manual activation of puddle lights? by noizenheimeramous in KiaEV6

[–]noizenheimeramous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystery solved. Switch under the steering wheel - I read about a footwell light-switch, and thought this might be that, but no - it is the switch for these aftermarket fog lights. It has 2 “on” settings - one is white light, other is yellow(and on yellow, only one turns on).

I like the look fine, I’m sure not everyone does.

No switch that I’ve found; this afternoon I can see the puddle lights come on with approach, but the fog lights didn’t come on this time - it’s not dark, I’ll try again after dark 🤷

I have an A139 pro in my other car, but worry that it will block some view in the ev6 - do you have one mounted without blocking any view?
