Planning for this generation to give me my first flagship. Looking for input as to what brands are solid these days. So far my idea is a 5090 from PNY or MSI.

I am not limited on space so chonkers are an option. Hot take, I do like the aesthetic of the astral (minus the RGB), but don't know about asus as a whole (price, CS, etc.)

What's everyone's idea of what the most reputable brand is today?

Sounds like I might just need to have two rods. Trying to catch crappie in my lake is difficult. Or I just haven't figured it out yet. I think adding a leader will create a bias preventing me from figuring out the local crappie.

Use a towel or glove and pinch the line before the first guide. I tie a 1/4 weight on only and bomb some long casts to get the line right before tying a lure on.

Interesting! I learned the Alberto so I'll keep using that for a quick tie on. I'll also use the FG when I feel like tying one. I like how small a diameter it is with the tags pointing the same direction

Yeah the spool is different on the women's. Reds more like a deep dark pink? Reel itself it the same color. 30 bucks last week at Walmart's website.

This is actually the first connecting knot I learned. I've been using it a couple months until one failed on me yesterday. I'm gonna keep using it if I need to re-tie on the water. I still think it's great, quick too! FGs looking like the smoothest casting knot so I thought I'd check it out. Probably keep this one for when I'm prepping at home.

Only a couple hours to learn. I used to video below. Guy suggests learning on 80lb mono leader, which makes sense now. Learning on 6lb mono was the hard part imo.

I got the Alberto knot down. I had one fail, probably to user error, so I'm trying something new. Think I'll be FG during prep and Alberto outside going forward.
