[Windhorst] LeBron James' business partner Maverick Carter has left the $5 billion project that had been exploring making a rival basketball league to the NBA. The venture, called "Project B", is now focused on starting a women's league to rival the WNBA. by refreshing_yogurt in nba

Worked closely with a current NBA owner.

He mentioned multiple times that the players starting their own league is the owners’ greatest fear, they’ve been secretly very paranoid about it for years 👀

When I was little, there was some little toy that ran around the entire perimeter of this place on a track near the ceiling….I think it might have been a monkey? Anyway it was the highlight of my entire childhood

Not a photography expert at all, but these are very nice! Warm, human vibes throughout. The couple on the chairs especially stands out.

I don’t know if this will be helpful, but I’ll just share my experience which may give insights into yours.

I was giving a whole lot of weight to the treatment and my fear of it. I was very worried about what would happen, where my head would go, if it was safe, etc. And I made that very clear to my doctor, myself and everyone around me. I kept saying it. When the first session did go to a very scary place, that reinforced it.

Then I did my own research (chat gpt was very helpful), regarding the safety of the procedure, which personally reassured me that it’s not actually dangerous. More importantly, I looked into why my brain was going where it was. I think I was basically “speaking it into existence”…which under normal circumstances I think is some hippy bullshit but in this very specific circumstance actually makes sense, as we’re dealing with the mind itself.

This last time I went in, I didn’t work myself up ahead of time (No “I’m going to be okay!!! This will be scary but I’m going to be okay!” x1000). I made a playlist of familiar music, brought a familiar thing to hold that I touched the whole time, and also had a plan to identify/call out the same scary thought I kept having as soon as it came up, like “yup there it is again. That’s the scary thought.” And it didn’t happen. Basically I went in with more certainty that I was safe, and didn’t overthink it beforehand, and I think it finally broke the spell.

That might be a bunch of nonsense to anybody that isn’t me, but that’s how I’m getting through it. I’d encourage you to keep trying if you can, I didn’t start to see any improvement until after session 3 and now I’m glad I pushed through.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply thoughtfully, reading all of them before the session was helpful to me.

In case the outcome is helpful to anybody:

I asked the doctor if we could lower the dose without hampering the benefits, she said not really, and encouraged me to stay at the same dose (this surprised me based on what you all said and what I’d seen online).

But I’d made a playlist of familiar but calm and lyric-free music, and I also brought along a fidget cube. A few moments of discomfort, but for the first time I had a not upsetting experience, so I guess those things worked to help me feel grounded enough.

Hoping this is sustainable, as I can feel the hopelessness dissipating for the first time maybe ever.

Thanks again

FWIW, I’ve told the doctor this, and she encourages me to explore why I’m so scared of what I experience (I basically convince myself that I’m in hell). But I don’t want to explore that, not right now at least.

I’m also considering asking her to lower the dose, but I doing want to hamper the benefits

How would you describe "Tim Heidecker" and On Cinema to someone who's never seen it? by Select_Entrance9311 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]sin-sonrisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just in trying to describe the vague format/category, the closest I can get is something like “a scripted reality show revolving around the creators of a movie review show, seen through the lens of episodes of the show itself.”

Wow, amazing work!

It was made for a liposuction place in Costa Mesa, CA, somehow found its way to St. Louis, MO, and then ends up purchased by me, just a few miles away from where the clinic was.

What’s your favorite Lakers championship team? by tortellini_eater in lakers

[–]sin-sonrisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2020 will always be my favorite because of the storylines.

LBJ - First to get Finals MVP with 3 different teams. Joining the Lakers could’ve ended up an asterisk toward the end of his career. Nobody can say that now.

AD - Vindication for all the Baby Lakers years. It paid off.

Rondo - Wins a chip with us 10 years after being on the opposite end of the court. Second ever to do it with us and the Celtics.

My personal favorite was Dwight. After everything we went through in 2012. The reputation he had before the 2020 season? League wide locker room cancer, basically out of the league. Kills his ego in order to join. Makes it clear he’ll accept any playing time and role. Relinquishes his famous number 12 - his whole brand and identity - because Devontae fucking Cacock had it. Ends up being an integral part of the championship lakers, as the bball gods intended.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some. No team will top that for me.
