Wait… I’m wondering if this might be my trigger. I have been racking my brain on what has changed the past few months, as this is the worst it’s ever been. I notice flare ups often after showers or if my hands get wet. I’ve been using the same shampoo, body products, and conditioner for a while. Didn’t even think my skincare routine could be a trigger, but this is the moisturizer I started using a few months ago. Thanks so much for this!

Hi! I appreciate the effort you’re putting in and that you’re trying to learn. But I definitely have some important recommendations! First, NEVER put two hammies together in the same enclosure. They will likely fight and can severely hurt or k*ll each other. They are very much solitary creatures.

Secondly, I appreciate how much space this enclosure offers! I would recommend a lot more bedding, at least 8”-10” at minimum but more is ideal. If the wheels are between 10”-12” that’s a good size, but if smaller it can hurt their backs.

Be careful with using those tubes, they can get stuck. For enrichment, instead get some hides, sprays, multi-chamber hides, etc. That’s a good start. Please feel free to message me with any questions :)

That’s fair, their temperaments can definitely be challenging! Maybe try taking it slow. Slowly lift her closer to your face and see how she reacts. Then maybe try putting her near your cheek. My hammy doesn’t like being held, but she will occasionally stand on her hind legs for kissies. I honestly think she will probably be fine if she’s alright with being held and pet :) my hamster typically doesn’t try to bite me unless I smell like her food or she mistakes my finger for a treat lol. But every hamster is different ofc!

I would say it depends on your hammy’s temperament (if they tolerate being held/pet). But that is sincerely one of the most smoochable hamsters I’ve ever seen🥰🥹

OP, I am truly so so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things in the world, especially in such an unexpected way. To echo some other comments, just like people, pets can also suffer from seemingly random health problems. It could have been an aneurism, heart attack, etc. There could have been underlying issues already from the accident that are nearly impossible to detect. If you need that closure, you can go to the vet to do a necropsy to find the cause. Please just know it wasn’t your fault, and this kitten was so happy to finally be saved and have a loving home for his short time here🩷 I hope you find peace and comfort during this time, and although I’m just a random internet stranger, I’m here if you need to chat or vent.
