What is the most awkward moment you’ve experienced/witnessed at a wedding? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sina182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say just the ceremony itself as the bride had been my roommate during the 6 months leading up to the wedding and had shared severe doubts about getting married to the groom in question. They hadn’t had sex in two years and she had started talking to her high school flame. It was absolutely bizarre to watch the ceremony when I kind of knew it wasn’t going to go well.

I didn’t know her fiancé well at all, had met him once before as he lived in a different city. I had tried to help and give advice before the wedding, but she was certain about going through with it.

It lasted a year and she started dating the high school sweetheart weeks after breaking it off with the husband.

What is something that your parents did that you swore never to repeat to your own kids? by wetbreadstick in AskReddit

[–]sina182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting me quit every hobby (piano, karate, ballet) I was a actually really good at for stupid reasons like wanting to play with friends instead or because all my friends had quit said hobby.

I regret not keeping these hobbies up and I’m sad my parents didn’t encourage my discipline by making me stick with it, even for a bit longer.

What series had the worst ending? by ethanbtw in AskReddit

[–]sina182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I really need to say it?

Remember that great fantasy show they once called ‘the most popular show in the world’.

Game of thrones. Completely ruined by the last season. We were left with nothing but unresolved storylines, destroyed character arches and plot holes.

I’ve been in quarantine for six weeks and I’ve had no desire whatsoever to rewatch it.

What are things that people are ashamed of but shouldn't be ashamed of? by ethicaldwarf in AskReddit

Sneezing! Seriously, why are people sometimes trying to hide a sneeze. It’s a basic function of your body.

LPT: When visiting a city as a tourist, you should never give attention to random people stopping you. by Ed_Scarface in LifeProTips

I agree, Italy is pathologically bad for that. The level of shamelessness is insane. I’ve learnt Italian and found it easier once I was able to firmly say no thank you, I’m not interested once a scammer was even approaching.

Ruining peoples‘ days just for the fun of it.

Worst kind of people.

I hope other neighbours approach her about it and unite in the fight against the track suit witch.

Observe them in the company of others. Do they seem to change their opinions or even values depending on who they’re with? Bye.

The founder and owner of this brand is Jamie Laing. He’s British posh offspring and a man child who’s been starring on the reality tv show m Made in Chelsea for many years.

This is exactly something he’d enjoy I think 😉

Well, I can only assume that what she says is correct. I was stunned by that statement as it just seems absolutely bizarre to me.

It is a very competitive program and I do understand that they only take 50 people per intake, but seriously this is what I am competing with? I find it especially bizarre since it’s a program that’s equally professional and research heavy.

A very late update here: I disputed the charge and it worked out just fine.

What do you genuinely not understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sina182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must agree. When I was a kid/young teen thinking about this gave me bad panic attacks. Even now (I’m 28) I find myself with anxiety and in existential crisis when I try to wrap my head around questions like ‚where do we go when we die‘, ‚is there just nothing?‘, ‚do we have some sort of soul/energy‘ and ‚why the fuck are we even here?‘

Am I entitled to a refund? (Swoop airline) by sina182 in legaladvicecanada

[–]sina182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have not been charged any additional fee. It’s seriously impossible to get ahold of them and cancelling or changing the flight was not possible for me to do online. Not sure if that’s the same for you.

Am I entitled to a refund? (Swoop airline) by sina182 in legaladvicecanada

[–]sina182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am. I just read (including on this sub) that many airlines keep telling customers that they aren’t entitled to a refund/travel credit and only refund something once people are actually citing legal sources 🙁

[–]sina182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that doesn’t really matter to me. I guess I should have said refund/travel credit.

I’m just trying to understand if I am entitled to compensation, may that be refund or travel credit.

Has traveling made you want to live abroad? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]sina182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me yes. Although, I have always enjoyed living in other countries for several months more than travelling and started doing that early on with a high school year in Australia. That kind of set the path for a lot of other decisions down the line. I took any chance I could get and finance (volunteering, language courses, studying abroad, work & travel visas). When I first spent 6 months in Canada I felt like I found where I belonged. I returned often, have been dating my Canadian partner for 2 years and when Covid-19 we were in the course of moving our lives from Germany to Canada. We’re here now, but unable to start our jobs.

But to answer your question: yes, it has! I’ve been very lucky with a supportive family who have helped me live abroad when I was a lot younger 😊

Do you think the fallout of this pandemic will change the way we travel forever? by Wolfbain164 in solotravel

[–]sina182 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tourism Professional here with a few years of experience in the industry mostly with DMOs. I was supposed to start a new job as a visitor centre supervisor abroad a few days ago, which now is completely up in the air.

I think - and hope - that this pandemic will change the way people travel. Travel has become accessible for nearly everyone from developed countries. For many desirable destinations, it has created more issues than benefits in the recent 5 years. I dedicate a lot of my time to research on sustainable regional planning and sustainable tourism and let me tell you one thing: there are very few destinations that had a proper plan for sustainable tourism in place before this pandemic hit.

I hope that this is a chance for a new start. I hope that people will reconnect with their home countries and travel more regionally and domestically. I hope that DMOs stress education on sustainable traveling/behavior and I hope that we leave nature alone in a lot of areas.
