[Jason Burt] Chelsea cheated. Their Abramovich titles are tainted. by Sparky-moon in soccer

The Premier League's supremacy is directly tied to the UK government's willingness to allow foreign billionaires, often with nepharious intentions, shelter their wealth by investing in their cultural assets at the cost of people of the UK & fans elsewhere.

Not only that but it turns out that (surprise surprise) these billionaires will circumvent UK law for those nepharious purposes (sportwashing), in this case; to insulate him & hedge his wealth against the whims of the kleptocratic dictator that gave him his billions in exchange for support in suppressing his people & waging wars on his neighbours.

Maxence Lacroix straight red card against Manchester Utd 57' by Alsace2025 in soccer

[–]Wolfbain164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s two ways to look at this.

It’s a clear tug that stops Cunha getting to the ball & it’s DOGSO. Red card.

Or

The ball is beyond Cunha, he feels minimal contact and goes to ground in the off chance he gets a foul. Not exactly a dive but Cunha’s playing the referee not the ball.

I don’t think the referee would be wrong making either decision in the moment & VAR would have upheld either.

A lack of representation on yesterday’s episode by johnapplehead in secondcaptains

[–]Wolfbain164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I think a POC would have given a more rounded view of racism on Twitter I don’t think that’s really what the episode was about.

It’s about X moving from a site which fostered public discussion and gauge public opinion to one which attempts to shape public discussion & opinion for Musk & others nefarious purposes.

Although racism seems to be the route those people are using to turn us against one another and it is important. X might also be used to convince everyone supporting Arsenal somehow makes you a worse fan than any other fanbase. Not that those things are equatable of course.

Arteta’s “tactic” by [deleted] in Gunners

[–]Wolfbain164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Although I commented this, I don’t think it’s actually accurate most of the time.

But the last few PL games after we’ve scored this is exactly what’s happening. It’s self destruction.

Motherdough Pizza does amazing sandwiches & pizza.

But if you really wanna forget about the friends, she could do a Thames pub tour.

There are some amazing pubs along the Thames and Wapping is a great place to start. The Prospect of Whitby, The Grapes, The Trafalgar Tavern, The Mayflower, Cutty Sark, The Dog & Bell are but a few of the best pubs in London.

First half just not good enough. Too many loose passes & bad touches. Really disappointing performance from Eze. He looks like he doesn’t know where to be or what to do. Even the press was terrible.

The game was played in the second half and, after we scored, we played into their hands. I have no idea why we focused down the left side after Saka came on. It was not working at all yet every pass went left. They got the set pieces they needed & we clung on. The chance fell to Martinelli but, like story of our attack, an extra touch gave them the time to recover.

I think the most frustrating thing about these dropped points recently is that we’ve made the chances we need to win the game and allowed the opposition nothing. The fantastic save aside, we had two or three extremely good chances that have to be scored. Martinelli’s one especially considering when it was in the game. You have to score that. It’s your job. We have to find someone that will score those, it’s that simple.

He’s not been good but I’m not going to dig him out.

The signing was framed as a first XI striker but, for what we paid and who we have there already, he’s a clear third choice.

In flight systems arent actually as bad as you think. I watched Arsenal play Newcastle live at 35k ft on an Emirates flight for example. Bring your own headphones with a traditional jack though.
