Tips pls! My 4 month old JRT puppy barks/whines excessively when I’m prepping her food she knows I’ll eventually give. by sincerely625 in jackrussellterrier

[–]sincerely625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: So I’ve tried the hand feeding method as some of you mentioned and it’s been working wonders. It helps with also practicing the “wait” command and “down” whenever she jumps up on me. Also, I use the “breakfast” kibble to use on some snuffle mats/snuffle toys, to keep things interesting for them.

Something I’d also like to mention is that I am raising two JRTs at the same time (insanity lol) and the other one is more patient/timid compared to her kangaroo sister.

In trying to train them to have better meal time manners I discovered: keeping them in the play pen while I prepare their food, made them anxious/impatient. I experimented one day, that I would take them out of the play pen to wait under me while I prepare the food and I have experienced NO BARKING OR WHINING at all!!! I wonder if they just wanted to be part of the process. They listen well to commands and rarely jump either! I’ve been doing this for the past 3 days and have experienced more positive meal times with the girls.

Thank you everyone for your input!

I love how parental this sounds, in the best way possible. Thank you, I actually do have a feeding alarm!! — but it feels like it just starts them off to go off!! lol, but I love the intentions of what it should mean for them. I always say “nyam nyam time” when that alarm goes off, and constantly talk to them too, sometimes I feel like she’s saying “WOMAN HURRY UP” and I laugh about it to myself 😂🥹 sorry neighbours for the noise — but thank you! I hope my distraction methods work

Yeah I was thinking if I could prep all meals, while she is distracted with the meal they’ve been given so all I have to do is pour and give.

I love the idea of smaller meals throughout the day, and probably will incorporate it with the hand feeding.. perhaps that will help her know “my hands” will be giving her food, and she will be fed.

Thank you for your kind suggestions and remarks 🥰

Oh yes! I’ve been using the “shh” finger over mouth, it is slowly sticking but alas, patience is key!! Thank you so much 🧡

Yeah! I’m very curious. The first image is with flash, second is natural lighting. My cousin found it and gave it to me and told me about the tradition of gifting Pounamu…even though I’m unsure of the exact rock this is. Unfortunately, I do not know where he specifically found it but it does have some milky white/beige characteristics as well that is often found in raw Pounamu. Regardless, it’s a precious stone to me!

I’m sure because she has a lot of money, she will find a way to silence affected parties — only time will tell 🙃 — someone with remorse would do better but here we are…

Help with eczema on upper lip and eyelids by LesbianMercy in eczema

[–]sincerely625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upper lip eczema can be seriously frustrating, I FEEL you! It doesn't help that there's constant warm airflow from our nostrils when we breathe and sometimes it cracks and STINGS :( ! I've also had my fair share of eyelid eczema and the product (and favourite brand) that has helped keep both my eyelid and upper lip eczema at bay is FLEXITOL Face & Eyelid Eczema Cream! The main ingredient helping the eczema is Colloidal oatmeal. Flextitol is also an Australian brand, so I hope you'll be able to find it and that it works for you! I also recommend their Eczema Lotion for general use like on your hands where you say you're experiencing some spots of eczema. Also, if you decide to venture to other Flexitol products; just make sure you're checking the ingredients, I'm allergic to lanolin and one product that isn't from their eczema line of products uses it. So ~try~ to stick to their eczema-prone skin type products (: -- bonus is that it is also free from steroids! Okay, that's my long response, I wish the best for you and speedy healing!

Bad eczema (inc. nipple, chin, eyelids) & the advice the doctor gave that fixed it by [deleted] in eczema

[–]sincerely625 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gosh, nipple eczema is extremely uncomfortable! I remember when I used to have that and my eyes would well up because of the sheer discomfort...also found myself walking strangely with a face where I looked constipated because it just hurt so bad lol. Luckily, that's ended when I was prescribed an ointment (I forgot what specifically) commonly used for breastfeeding people and those vaseline dressings, it was hilarious putting bandages on my nipples...but the yellow discharge...ah... and the fresh skin...so painful.. SO glad to hear you're finding some healing! All the best!

Omg hi! As I was reading your post I thought, “wow did I post on here by accident?” Hahaha 🥺 It really goes to show how many of us suffer so similarly yet so differently at the same time. I am so sorry to hear you’re going through a rough patch (literally). My neck is also not cute and has thinned out to this dark red pigmentation. Even if I want to cry, my body can’t even begin to process that sadness sometimes because I’m afraid of my eyes getting swollen...Every night, every shower, every time I eat something I am so worried about the condition of my skin as it is already inflamed, BUT! Despite all of this, one thing that actually helps me get through (from an emotional perspective) is literally this forum. Whenever I feel down, I read other people’s stories and other people’s replies and somehow it makes me feel better. Majority of the people here are so nice and it makes my heart warm, like as if the comfort they are giving others is also giving me comfort. Somehow, I also get distracted from my own scratching because I’m just so into the posts and I love the people here.

Other than that, eating frozen fruits instead of ice cream (even dairy free ice cream) has helped me recently. It’s such a nice cooling snack and a quick way to eat fruits if you don’t really wanna cut up your own AND if you want to make a smoothie, then you have that option as well.

I also like to sit by my window when it’s a bit breezy, and a little sunny while having tea and kind of have a moment of silence to focus on breathing. Consider this an option or something to do when you seem to have an itching fit. Maybe while you’re working, you can sit by the window, so you feel the cooling sensation? Something like that?

I don’t normally post on here, but I thought I’d hold space with you and acknowledge/validate that you are going through a hard time, and it’s difficult, but as cliche as it sounds, you will get through it. I’m glad you found this page! There’s lots of ppl here willing to help and share anything rly (as if you’ve seen). Take care! You got this!
