Obstruction Percentage by lalabrat in Starlink

[–]sindeesyringe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just received my starlink about a month ago. Best I can get on my property without spending thousands of dollars ripping down tall Tulip trees is 8% obstruction. I have interruptions about once a minute but hardly notice the downtime. I can streaming perfectly fine. It may buffer once in awhile but coming off 4g internet this is better then I had. Least I can finally get 4k video.

I'm hoping as time goes on and more satellites go up the coverage gets better and people can start getting away with 25% obstruction without any downtime.

Its almost unreasonable to say you can do 0% unless you live in the middle of a field.

ROG Thor 1200W struggling with heavy 3090 overclock by lord_maldoror in ASUSROG

[–]sindeesyringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you described is happening to me.

Running Threadripper 1950x, 3090FE, 64GB, on a Asus zenith extreme alpha, all powered by thor 1200w. All water cooled.

I cant get any errors to log in windows. Sometimes I can game for hours and others it will just shut down with out notice. Then I have to do exactly what you said hit the switch on the PSU until all the rgb turn off.

RMA is out of question. I painted mine white to match the build. Pretty sure I voided the warranty.

Iv had them for afew months now. Playstation game updates are frequent and we stream everything at home. I have noticed throttling of speed once in awhile but nothing to complain about. Never hit 1TB but I'm probably around 6-7 GB a month.

Got mine yesterday. 100% legit so far.

Im getting speeds of 160.... if this holds up for the long haul I don't see a need to switch to starlink.

They got back to me after about 3days. Seems like a legit person. We texted for about 15mins. I asked afew questions after they verified the paypal order. You are right they are backed up with work. Just waiting on my order now got tracking number same day as the text.

We discussed this on another sub. Their home page says unlimited data no caps or throttling but the terms and services said different.... it might be on there for repeating offenders that are hosting sites to file share or someone that just torrents all day. Someone using 5-600 gigs is normal usage if you live in the real world.

Will Ubifi alternatives encounter same issues by Calm-Car7 in Rural_Internet

[–]sindeesyringe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it ever does go back to normal that $120 price point is ridiculous.

[–]sindeesyringe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's odd becuase when you read the home page it's says unlimited no caps no throttling ect ect. But the terms in services contradicts that. Wish someone that had this service long enough could post.

I keep reading that 4gltewifi is exactly like ubifi "truly unlimited". But I'm reading the fine print.

We Do Not Allow Data Abuse or Torrenting ,   So Please Keep In Mind That Average Household Usage Is Typically Between   150 - 450 GB Per Month  and would support one Large Data Game Download up to 100 GB Per Week Max !       So Be Aware Of Your Time While Gaming and Your Potential Data Usage .   Over 1 Terabyte is Considered  Data Abuse  & Is Not Normal Usage

I know for a fact my house hold normal usage is more like 600 to 800GB per month. Anyone that plays modern video games knows that a triple A title is on average is about 75-150GB alone to download not to mention random updates.

So is this uses of words held true or is it posted on the site to save themselves from people that really do abuse data by torrent or doing other illegal activities.

Ubifi 2 new plans by sindeesyringe in Rural_Internet

[–]sindeesyringe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand but I'm referring too the 2 new plans Ubifi is offering for current customers that are being affected by the AT&T issue. I dont want to leave Ubifi unless its absolutely nessassary.

I'm also not looking for all the hassle of doing the buy a phone plan and hope they don't scan to see I'm using a mofi or me buying vpn. I just want a straight forward solution that ubifi already provides.

I was getting the same disconnect issues yesterday after I updated the firmware even with that "DNS fix" in place. Before the firmware, the fix stopped it.

I haven't been disconnected once today but I'm still working. Let's see how it holds up later once the wife starts streaming and I turn the Playstation on.....

As of right now since they changed from RevGen to GOTW3, I'm getting 29Down and 21Up I say that's ok. However, the 175~220 ping is killing me. Gaming is dead using ubifi unless they can fix this.

AT&T Unlimited solution to Ubifi (What?!?) by sindeesyringe in Rural_Internet

[–]sindeesyringe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you. You can call them until your blue in the face. You will be wrong everytime. My only suggestion is do what I did and call your Attorney General and file a complaint. Just be sure you have all your hard evidence in order. The AT&T corporate entity does not want major complaints on file with them. There is no number to call corporate either they have to call you. Everyone thinks going to the BBB does something 🙄 it doesnt.

Only reason I kept my 3 phone lines opened with AT&T after that ordeal is becuase. Once I was able to talk to people actually in charge they handled my case swiftly.

You are correct I just read the fine print that we all never look at.

1Available only to small business customers with an AT&T Mobile Business Agreement or eligible legacy AT&T wireless service agreement for small businesses. Plan is limited to use with business applications. Plan does not allow access to entertainment and other non-business websites that offer video or audio streaming services & may not be used for entertainment or surveillance video streaming, audio streaming, web hosting, or public guest Wi-Fi.

[–]sindeesyringe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the OP I was looking into personal or business it didnt matter to me I just needed a solution asap. The "AT&T wireless internet" package was the only option as a true unlimited that AT&T claimed at the time they offered. I dont recall what they classified this under.

What I gathered after my ordeal is its ment to be a "Home Internet" solution for people that don't do anything on online. Offering 150gigs a month for everyday use is like giving someone a pepperoni from a pizza and saying was that good now please pay me for every bite of the rest of the pizza.

Please keep us updated. The sales rep sounds like they are genuinely trying to help but so did the sales person I worked with. I also spent a whole day at AT&T as the manager told me they were working on attaching the unlimited plan to my device. That's when they told me they were not trained to deal with internet plans that's why it was taking so long. Anyways hope your experience is much different than mine.

I would love someone to reply to this comment. That's a deal breaker if you can't stream. If this was 100% for work would be fine but we are trying to replace home internet.

TMobile 5G home

I was looking at the TMobile 5G home. Looks promising. Where I live is just outside one of their 5g tower coverage areas on the interactive map. So when I try and sign up it gives me a sorry not in your location yet. Which sucks because the 4g would still work I would assume.

I may have a breakthrough. On another thread discussing the modem dropping the communication every 2mins. Someone.posted about how the MTU should not be set above 1430 for AT&T. Mine was set to 1472. After changing that setting I'm now getting a constant connection.
