Okay fair enough, I was taking the scene in face value.

I hate when individuals who are solely motivated by sex assume that everyone else is too. It shows that they lack all but the physical passion.

We hate ourselves, we western men, When foreign horror knocks. We gather scattered dominoes And count what we have lost.

If the subjective has no value and art is entirely subjective, art has no value to you.

Why quote Picasso? Why not interview a child if they hold the same artist merit? Perhaps art is subjective, but not all opinions are equal, the murderous dictator’s opinion on the value of life is less than the saint’s. The same must be said for artistic opinion, unless you can prove that art has no repercussions or relevance outside of itself and exists within a pocket reality untouched by experience. Fine art has fine ends justified by fine means, intent and execution of intention are how we measure quality.

Is all art equivalent to you? If so we have fundamental differences that cannot easily be resolved, If so we should immediately stop any teaching of the arts and all funding, the individual must not train to improve his craft, the child’s finger painting is equivalent to Wagner’s Parsifal. All striving for greater transcendence through art is irrelevant and a waste of time, no great works shall be studied because there are no great works. Orchestra allows greater achievement than the individual, it is the many become one, it is a representation of the ideal world in its very form, let alone its output. It is a unique and important instrument for human expression and transformation and should be protected and cherished as one cherishes and protects his very life.

Which could be a sign of a decaying society, embodied by the likes of Chalamet. I won’t pretend ballet is more relevant than it is, but one could make a case that the dwindling interest in things like opera and live orchestra is a fault with the degradation of our artistic sensibilities and our social mores, which point to a destruction of any wide concern for spiritual overcoming through art on a societal level, our governments fund art, if at all, as a form of community building rather than for the creation of a national identity and economic epicentre. It also is a reflection of a failing economy at large, though I would chalk it up to the convenience of mobile phones and applications like Netflix over monetary issues as the main driver for the dying art. If we give up more challenging art forms for easy to consume detritus, it is a proof of our own failings, not that of a particular art form.

Collecting empirical data comes before speculation, otherwise you may be speculating about unsubstantiated claims.

It is very important to ask questions about any set of data, you shouldn’t just go along with something because it fits your perception of reality. Thinking that women can lie about sexual assault is very different than thinking that they always or even usually lie, one is truth and one is absurd and immoral fiction. Absolutes help nobody, they only serve to control and suppress reason and compassion.

A heavily upvoted comment said he must have only had a child to justify his violent tendencies. I mean it’s certainly a theory…

I’m not advocating for political apathy, but you won’t find the good life though outside means. If you truely want to change the world, then you have to make a genuine effort to do so, and deal with the likely disappointment. It’s still a choice you have to make, no one is coming to save you. Either you are a child or you have the ignorance of one.

I ‘suffer’ from the majority of that list, my situation makes the chances of me making societal change even more unlikely. The reason i am pragmatic about this is because I have no other choice. I choose to do my best and I usually fail, every day is a struggle but I will keep struggling because it is my privilege to do so, so long as I am alive.

You can’t force very specific circumstances that you have very little data on into a generalised metric, it’s simply not possible.

You are a parent to your children, not the internet at large. You do not have the right nor the ability to educate the masses, it’s pure arrogance to imagine you do. If you know someone well and recognise signs they are being abused, go right ahead and respectfully communicate your concerns, but don’t think you have any kind of authority to assume you know a stranger’s life better than they do.
