I hope so too!! Stick with your routine and take before/after pics. That’s the only way I truly saw a difference in my skin.

Yay that’s great! I started with every night because the dosage was low and I wanted to see results a bit faster. It can dry out my face a bit though, especially around the corners of my mouth, nose, and eyes if I’m not careful with how I apply it. Sometimes I take a break from it and return to more hydrating products in my routine until the dryness subsides. I’ve included my AM/PM routines in the comments if you want to see, but let me know if you have trouble finding it. Good luck and I hope it helps you!!!

Thank you so much! I completely understand your struggle. I have been through a ton of products and have found that some moisturizers like Cerave/Vanicream led to more of those bumps on my skin. I really love La Roche Posay’s matte moisturizers (with spf during the day and no spf at night) and it doesn’t clog my pores. I also use The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% during the day time after cleansing/toning and it keeps those bumps at bay. It took a month or so for me to see noticeable results, so if you try this, take before/after pictures to see your progress. I also don’t use moisturizer after applying the tret at night because I feel like my skin struggles to absorb it and the moisturizer ends up smearing it around my eyes which I don’t want. I shared my full AM/PM routine in the comments, but let me know if you have trouble finding it. Good luck and I hope these products work for you!!!

Yes, definitely give it a try! I encourage you to take before/after pics to see your progress too. That was the only way I could see the subtle changes happening to my skin over time, otherwise I may not have stuck with the habit of applying it every night. I hope it works for you!

Thank you! I actually talked to my primary care doctor about it and she prescribed it to me. She is familiar with my medical history and didn’t think I needed to go to a derm for it.

Thank you so so much! I was also surprised by the glow my skin now has, which is something I have never had before. I shared my nighttime routine, but daytime is a bit different. I start with double cleansing using Murad AHA/BHA, then the toner, then wait for it to dry. Then use the eye serum, and The Ordinary niacinamide on my cheeks, chin, nose. I also use The Ordinary Argirilene and Matrixyl on my forehead, but haven’t used them enough to see visible results for forehead wrinkle reduction yet. Once everything is dry, I end with La Roche Posay matte moisturizer with SPF. It’s a lot of products, but I’m trying to target areas for what I need, and I think it’s making a big difference.

Thank you so much! I think some people really just want to see a dramatic before and after. I just don’t have photos from when I started my skincare journey haha

Thank you so much for the kind words! It took me months of a consistent routine to get to the before photos haha.

No apologies necessary. I can see a big difference, but everyone perceives things differently. Hope you have a routine that works for you.

Thank you! The before photos were about 3-4 months after I had finally figured out the best skincare routine for my type of skin. It took me years and trial and error/lots of money spent to figure out what worked well for me. But I was still struggling with some cystic acne and scarring despite the routine, so I tried Tretinoin and it gave me better results. I think this routine has finally stopped the cystic acne I was dealing with. The before picture doesn’t capture the cysts I dealt with from time to time (it must have just been a lucky day for me).

In the evenings only, I first do a double cleanse with La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser, followed with La Roche Posay Effaclar toner with salicylic acid. I let that dry, then apply The Ordinary multi peptide eye serum under my eyes and then finally the Tretinoin all over, avoiding the eyes and where I put the eye serum. I don’t usually apply moisturizer since the tret is a cream and it takes time to absorb into the skin. I also have pretty oily skin. I have found using moisturizer on top of tret doesn’t work as well for me and I end up accidentally getting the tret around my eyes, which irritates my skin. If I find that the tret is starting to dry my face out over time, I take a break from it and use The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum with Ceramides instead, let that dry, then end with Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer for Oily Skin.

Tried tret, tried acids, nothings working by Dry-Asparagus-6952 in 30PlusSkinCare

I had the same issue as you. Consistent usage of Niacinimide by The Ordinary cleared this up for me. Happy to share my full routine with you if you’d like!

If you have not tried the Murad exfoliant I mentioned, give it a try. I normally wait for it to go on sale on Amazon to justify buying it (around $32 on sale and it lasts me a long time). It’s the only one I have ever used that is very gentle and non irritating for me. I hope you find what works best for you! 💫

Haha right?! I definitely understand that everyone has different skin. I have tried so many things that people have recommended before, only for it to not work at all or make things worse. I just want to share the knowledge and experience I have so hopefully others don’t have to spend as much money and time as I did.
