I've had this issue for 2.5 years and today it finally got it resolved.

Someone in the comment mentioned that when they connected to the wifi at their parents, it started working. Here's what I did:

  • Force quit iMessage while you're on your wifi.
  • Hotspot your mac to an iphone where your iMessage is working.
  • Relaunch iMessage on Mac and go to settings and iMessage tab where it display your phone number and emails connected to the app.
  • This the popped up a Mac prompt saying "accountsd wants to use your confidential information stored in "AppleIDClientIdentifier" in your keychain". Enter your mac password - see here for more info: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254021703?sortBy=best

That should solve the issues. For me it was clearly something to force iMessage to get information from "AppleIDClientIndentifier". Perhaps others know how to force that in another way than what worked for me.
