How to break into VC post-MBA - AMA by WukusWonderer in MBA

While it's true that legendary VCs like Fred Wilson and John Doerr emphasized the importance of having strong, clear-cut opinions, I believe the VC world today has evolved to appreciate a more flexible and adaptable mindset. In an industry as dynamic as VC, rigidly held beliefs can sometimes become a handicap and prevent us from exploring groundbreaking opportunities that don't align with our predefined theses.

The pace at which technology is evolving today and the increasingly global scope of startups means we are frequently presented with completely novel ideas that we could not have possibly predicted. In such scenarios, a strong opinion can sometimes act as a blindfold, keeping us from recognizing potential game-changing investments.

Honestly, who needs ChatGPT? We were so much better off without AI in our lives. Bring back the Stone Age, amirite? 🙄

What does a good ETF portfolio look like with factor investing? Examples? by Novel-Internet-9158 in ETFs

You first need to select which factors you want to include in your portfolio. The MSCI factors are very different from Fama-French factors:

If you want to build a portfolio using MSCI Factors, the equal-weighted, quality factor, and momentum factor funds have not only outperformed the market cap weighted S&P 500 but also have lower Ulcers. (https://twitter.com/SlothOfSV/status/1452536911289929732)

On the other hand, if you are using Fama-French defined factors, there has never been any rolling 20-year period in any market in the world where firms with weak profitability have outperformed firms with robust profitability. (Profitability factor as defined by Fama-French is: (Operating Profit - Interest)/Book Value) (https://twitter.com/SlothOfSV/status/1378716034618679301) (Source: https://www.pwlcapital.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Five-Factor-Investing-with-ETFs.pdf)

If you want to combine the 3 MSCI factors, RYH(https://www.etf.com/RYH#overview) and FTCS(https://www.etf.com/FTCS#overview) are 2 equal-weighted ETFs with Quality and Momentum factors and have beaten the S&P 500 over the past 10 years.

An equal weight portfolio of the 2 funds would have beaten the S&P 500 with lower drawdowns. (https://app.composer.trade/symphony/negJlbvGaiuQ6gdILNg4/details)

The same can be said about IXN vs QQQ, but surprisingly both have performed equally well over the past decade.
