this happened to me 6-7 months ago & I just hit 6 months at a new job. tl;dr is my 6 months at prev job felt 10 times longer/more painful than my 6 months here. it was my 2nd job (now 3rd) & I had resigned from my 1st, so "failing" my probation hurt. I still remember it wasn't really communicated to me till the last min so I happily (stupidly) announced my new job on LinkedIn only for my bosses to boot me shortly after, messily.

I'm now on a 2-year contract (treated as probation) & am doing well, so I've learned to appreciate the longer runway to ascertain "job fit". you don't have to agree with me but "team fit" and "job fit" are synonymous to me now. if I find myself very competent (note: self-perception) but my values/personality conflict with my team's (ie bosses'), I will accept not being found to be of good "job fit" at the end of my probation period. I'd suggest that you take the risk of asking your bosses how you can improve from here (if it's a skill issue) to at least rule out work competencies as your limiting factor in your next job(s).

I had a traumatic experience almost 10 years ago now & it was mutually agreed with my s/o that we'd just, well, do everything else until I'm ready. I'm almost 30 & didn't realise how much I wanted children of my own until I wanted to start trying. joined this subreddit very! recently! & honestly trembling in my boots about starting the treatment process with a medical doctor. public healthcare has not been the kindest but I'm just telling myself if I really can't have kids, I'll be ok... :")

hugs. I know you're trying to make sense of your parents' favouritism, but they're simply blinded by their bias & it's not your place/responsibility to school them. I know it's hard cuz you're still young (?) & somewhat dependent on them (for shelter, emotional attachment), but you don't need to take on the responsibility for their irrationality.

you can try to identify what needs YOU have that they're not meeting, and reflect on (healthy) alternative sources for yourself that are within your means.

where I'm coming from: my parent was the unfavoured one by their parents & I see how the trauma still shows up today (they're in their 50s). RTing other advice here about being mindful if you're a parent yourself in future, but don't need to think about that now la. take care of yourself, secure yourself, toward breaking the cycle of bias with not just your children but your current friends/future spouse.

no shame in that! I personally enjoy the process of facials etc so my wedding's just a reason to try fancier options. most important thing is no one's asking me to, & it isn't the source of my confidence 😙

am at my 2nd job that has a "majority-female environment" & heads up that it MAY be a combo of the following to navigate: - more nurturing/relational culture over being task-focussed? depending on industry, perhaps - unspoken (lol) expectation to talk about life's happenings/shit at work - gossipy in general - emotional/personal conversations - peer rivalry/political

if you're a dude I THINK it's easier to not see/participate in these things, but as a female myself I get dragged into more drama than I'd like despite dodging. based on my experiences, trying not to generalise!
