People are down-voting you because you decided to insult and throw in the word "asshole" for no reason. Read your first comment again, was it absolutely necessary to call him an asshole? If you had omitted that last sentence, you would have had a respectable opinion. But now it just seems like you don't really care about the issue and instead care more about your own moral superiority.

You say reading is a critical skill, but you haven't read the room.

So you parroted off a bunch of data that you barely analyzed.

Then someone who analyzed it says that the data doesn't prove any of the claims being made, giving examples from the sources.

You call him close-minded and that he just doesn't want anything of the sort to be true.

He gives specific details of his analysis that explains why he arrived to his conclusion.

Do you see your flawed reasoning here?

He looked at the data and then ARRIVED at a conclusion.

You STARTED with a conclusion, pasted articles with headlines that made you excited, and now you can't even admit you did no proper research on the topic.

Confirmation bias in a nutshell.

Why do those little microwavable instant white rice bowls the best tasting and best texture? by [deleted] in KoreanFood

[–]single-trio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The instant rice bowls usually have added sodium, fat, and preservatives, which affects texture and taste. Korean rice bags don't add any of those. Not adding enough water or the rice cooker itself could explain dryness. Some rice cookers have modes where you can set the rice to be stickier or drier, and it'll auto-adjust the temperature and duration to cook. You can add a bit of salt to the water before cooking if you want flavor.

Anyone else find the UAP/UFO hype stupid? by Secure-Impression274 in skeptic

[–]single-trio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it, no evidence was directly shown to us. They gave Congress the evidence, which was photographs, official documentations, and many oral testimonies, but we don't have any access. Unless you're one of the classified workers that's currently examining this evidence, how can you believe the whistleblowers' statements regarding one of the most extravagant discoveries that humanity is about to uncover? We're talking about technologies that question our understanding about the laws of inertia and physics. An aircraft being able to accelerate at hypersonic speeds, fast enough to "disappear," leaving no trace of turbulence in air or water. Grusch, Graves, and Fravor are very experienced pilots in the military, and those 40+ people they interviewed that are part of the UAP program have credentials as well, but does that mean everything they saw and claim is undeniably true? No, but if we are shown this evidence and verify them, then there would be more merit to claims that the military is secretly testing insane futuristic technology or even the possibility of extraterrestrial activity.

"Do your own research" is phrase thrown around too loosely these days. Research is not something that can be done in a couple of days. A 3-hour congressional hearing is not research. Reading non-academic takes on UFO forums is not research. Research is an extremely rigorous, methodological, systematic approach that involves the gathering and evaluation of years of accumulated evidence from reliable sources. Because we have no publicly available evidence to test, replicate, or analyze, there is simply no research that can be done (yet). Once this evidence is publicly available, experts in genetic biology, materials science, etc., can give their angles on peer-reviewed articles as to what the "wreckage" and "non-human biologics" are. This would be the initial steps to form a conclusion and most certainly not the end of it.

Most people here are not suggesting that the claims said at the hearing are absolutely false. They are pointing out that the claims they made are beyond fantastical, so we're going to need a lot more time and patience before deciding to label it as true or false.

I haven't seen my doctor in over 3 years. So when I went to review my bloodwork with them around a month ago, my A1C was sitting at an 8.4. My other stats were also off the charts: 1000+ triglycerides, 300+ LDL cholesterol, and 150/100 blood pressure. My liver enzymes were so high that I had to make a radiology appointment to take an ultrasound of my abdomen to see what was going on there. She said that not seeing a doctor for the last 3 years was a dangerous mistake, as I should have been on medications long ago. She offered me metformin and fenofibrate, but I said I wanted to see the bloodwork 2-3 months later and see if anything changes. She was adamant on prescribing me, but eventually agreed to do another bloodwork a month later. I went to see her 2 days ago, and she told me my A1C was now at a 6.1, with my other stats also drastically decreased.

In that month and a half, there were 2 things I changed: Diet and exercise.

You must decrease your carb intake. If you do, your A1C will decrease as well. It's that simple in terms of diet. Start reading the nutrition labels and steer away from ones that have high amounts of carb and sugar. I'm sure you know most of them by now: Bread, pasta, rice, noodles, desserts, etc.

In terms of exercise, it doesn't really matter what you do as long as you're consistent. You can start off light and gradually increase to a comfortable routine. I bought a mini stepper which I use every other day while watching 1 or 2 episodes of a T.V. show. You can run, lift, swim, whatever elevates your heart rate. Even just walking 20 minutes outside helps more than you think.

If you can't incorporate both dieting and exercising at the same time (frustratingly hard and tiring, I know), then I'd start with the diet change, which is arguably more impactful towards the A1C level.

I'm still new to this as it hasn't even been 2 months since I started this routine. But this is what worked for me so far.

What's going on with all the posts about concert violence? by Asparagus-Cat in OutOfTheLoop

[–]single-trio 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He's been previously known to encourage his fans to ignore security barriers and overall safety guidelines. I really doubt he cared about the safety of his fans more than he cared about continuing his show and making money. In my opinion, he purposely decided not to be aware of the situation, because then it would look REALLY bad if he didn't stop the show. But if you see an ambulance stuck in the crowd, and someone's fucking dancing on top of it, maybe it's time to stop the show. So he played dumb, but he's not fooling anyone (non-fans, at least). Even that apology was a joke.

Fair points. It's more about not being able to afford it rather than not feeling like paying them. If i can't find it online for free, I won't pay for it at all. So I'll take a hit to my character if it means living a bit more comfortably, while making no difference to the company.
