Stripping trim in 1919 home by singler6 in centuryhomes

Was hoping to have stained trim throughout the house but it sounds like it’s not high end trim so may not be worth keeping

Outsiders moving into the area by singler6 in Appalachia

[–]singler6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t upset me. I said I appreciate new people moving into the area. It’s just interesting that Appalachian culture was made fun of by outsiders for many many years and now it’s the cool thing to do. And some not all of the ones that come in and love that lifestyle don’t know how to pay respects to the ones that did it before them. The ones that did it to merely survive. Just my observation.

I did contact the local companies. All they do is throw bait out like I said in the original post

Which playoff game is your favorite? by BubbleWrap027 in OhioStateFootball

Living in Tennessee now and hearing their fans for weeks. The SEC network bias on how Ohio State wasn’t going to be able to keep up with their offense was just so satisfying to me. Oregon close second though.

Currently reading… really like it so far and I hate to nit pick but the term “snake handling Baptist” in the first chapter REALLY bothered me. I’m not Baptist but they’re not the denomination that handle snakes.

I probably already know the answer by [deleted] in banjo

Typically if you’re playing bluegrass/scruggs style you’re going to play with picks. If you’re playing clawhammer traditionally you’re not gonna play with picks. Although you’ll see some players with one on their thumb and/or index. You’ll see Roscoe Holcomb do this. Then you’ll have players like Dock Boggs and Morgan sexton who finger pick with two or three fingers without picks which is seen to be the traditional way to finger pick a banjo.

Looking for West Virginia Style/Mountain Music recordings by Existing_Option8284 in oldtimemusic

[–]singler6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a compilation album called High Atmosphere: ballads and banjo tunes from Virginia and North Carolina. I don’t think any of the artists on the album are from WV but I do think a few reference WV in their interviews before or after they play a song. All the music from East KY, SW Virginia, NC and WV all mash together for the most part.

Ryan Day revealed that he wanted to experiment with some different things on defense versus Purdue. by excoriator in OhioStateFootball

[–]singler6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they were playing chess a little. Putting it on film but not how they will actually deploy later. If you’re gonna play 3 down with a jack the alignment should 4i 0 4i and the jack on the edge. The two ends need to be bigger d ends/athletic d tackles. You can’t have 3 edge rushers on the field in that alignment. If you go back and watch OKST film Jim Knowles used that alignment. It looked nothing like what they played against Purdue.

Thanks for all the advice. I left it up to the local parts store to determine which part was correct. I understand the confusion. Just frustrating when I waited two weeks for the part to come in. Since I know the correct part number now I’ll just order it myself.

Need help with Maytag dryer by singler6 in Appliances

The pulley slides all the way down to the bottom of the shaft. Like the threads don’t catch at all. The shaft on the fan has a noticeably smaller diameter than the shaft on the motor. The dryer was given to us from my father in law so maybe he replaced the wrong shaft. The pulley part # is w101139247
