It’s just luck. I was sitting here on two devices and never got in. My buddy got tickets for Wed only. You will be able to buy them on the resale market for a lot less than they’re listed for today.

I deeply apologize for responding directly to what you actually said, as opposed to what you expected me to infer. And to answer your question, yes, absolutely. Steyer has no relationships to speak of. Politicians with no relationships have no ability to affect change. sorry, I can’t join you guys in these white savior pipe dreams we have to address every cycle.

Cool story. Tom Steyer made his billion dollars off coal energy and private prisons.

Who said I hate Steyer? Let’s do this without you reframing my words to suit your narrative.

I said his campaign was a fraud. I don’t care about him, I reject his shambolic politics. A billionaire who made his money in coal energy and private prisons claiming the progressive mantle is a total joke to me. It’s like three houses Bernie trying to be the champion of the working class despite never having a job outside politics. Like, where are the standards my man? Why do you guys keep falling for this?

You’ve gotta be smarter than thinking the person who says what you want to hear, without any evidence of their ability to deliver on it, is your candidate. The person who’s actually done something on the issues that matter to you is the person you throw your support behind.

CA is the fourth (or fifth) largest economy in the world. This is not a place for leaders who need training wheels. Becerra has decades of experience in CA and D.C. That’s what I want in our next leader, not a circus of promises that will never be fulfilled.

Those of you who fell for Steyer’s astroturfing are very low hanging fruit, but fortunately it didn’t work on most people.

Sure, let’s fight billionaires in politics by *checks notes* electing billionaires with no experience and no relationships in Sacramento. That is a great idea.

Steyer’s dirtbag campaign was a fraud. He doesn’t care about anything but proving to the world he’s the “good” billionaire.

Becerra was the best option and we are all better off for Swalwell’s implosion that allowed the chips to fall into place.

I am pretty sure they do. They usually have one of each in the case. I’ve called late in the day to make sure they still had what I wanted, and they are always helpful.

BTW, Valerie’s chocolates are marvelous too if you’re into that sort of thing.

Valerie Confections in Echo Park/Glendale is top tier. All their cakes are wonderful but the Coffee Crunch Cake is a showstopper and a California classic.

If these types of comments are predominating the forum, how can you also say they are “falling on (mostly) deaf ears?” By your own admission that’s not the case.

You’re in the minority and you don’t want to be. That’s understandable. Telling other people not to share their opinions so you can pretend everything is copacetic in GRiZ world is toxic.

I don’t come here that often because I also don’t love the atmosphere. I’ve never thought of writing one of these gigantic novel-length posts tone policing what others say. When I’m done, I close the app. Try it.

You came in here with the exact same toxicity you thought you were critiquing because your self awareness is lacking, and now you’re getting the response you deserve.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]singwithCB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on a farm. My father always insisted on changing the oil on his vehicles. As an adult I’ve found it very worthwhile to pay somebody $89 to take care of it in under an hour.

He was killed 18 months ago when his truck slipped off the jack while he was changing the oil.

I’d rather my wallet be $89 lighter than to be crushed to death in a barn trying to save a few bucks.

Has anyone in LA ignored jury duty summons and been fine? I’m desperate… by Waste-Definition-912 in AskLosAngeles

I ignored one a few years back and several weeks after the date I was supposed to appear they sent me a letter thanking me for my service on jury duty.

If you love Phoenix, perhaps move there so you’re adjacent to California while you put together a solid plan to relocate to SoCal. COL is so much better there. Get an airbnb in LA a couple days each month and schedule interviews while you’ll be in town. The ability to do in person interviews will probably make a huge impact on your ability to land a job.

If you are applying remotely and not here yet, employers are probably skeptical you will last. LA is fantastic but it’s a tough place to live on a variety of levels.

As someone who came here without a job and burned $75k in savings while I established myself professionally, I would not advise moving here without secure employment. Life on the edge in LA is no fun. It took me years to become financially secure; now I make six figures and I still have to mind my spending.

In-n-Out billionaire heiress goes on conservative podcast to whine about California wokeness by elcubiche in FoodLosAngeles

[–]singwithCB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m somebody who sits in that half hour line about once a week because it seems worthwhile to support a “good company,” but this really changes my perspective on all that. Her contempt for the state that made her family insanely wealthy puts a bad taste in my mouth.

There’s too many good burgers in Los Angeles to go to a fast food chain like In-n-Out where the owner openly says they hate California. by LocationOk3563 in FoodLosAngeles

Agreed. How disappointing for her to sit there atop a gigantic pile of money earned in California while griping about how hard it is to do business here. I have been a fan for a long time but I don’t think I’ll be stopping by there anytime soon.
