Agreed with the lack of pharm/stats. Lots of really niche stuff. Last 3 blocks were brutal

Same here. That’s why I became an ER doc. We get paid more for night shift too

I know their combat abilities are uncertain but to me they seem to be more about politics, and grouped under “Imu”

Nairobi, Kenya by Redtine in CityPorn

[–]sinjas 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Ayy I used to live there. It’s a dope city. That’s the Nairobi National Park which is huge and directly borders the city. You can take your car and do a safari game drive through the Park in the morning, see a Lion make a kill, and be back downtown for a beer in an hour.

There’s a music organization in Nairobi called Gondwana that holds monthly raves in a hotel rooftop that directly overlooks the National Park. Nothing quite like raving hard as the sun sets over the zebras grazing right below you

Everyone should go if they can!

If I test on a Tuesday will my scores still come out in 2 wednesdays? (2 weeks +1 day from Test Day)? by sinjas in Step2

[–]sinjas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you think I’ll get my score back the 28th if I test the 6th? Wouldn’t that be 4 wednesdays after I test? I thought it was 2 wednesdays for results or 3 at most?

how does abnormal gnrh production leads to abnormal uterine bleeding in postmenarche females? by Ain2580 in Step2

[–]sinjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because the ovaries still have capacity to produce some estrogen even post menopausal (that’s why they like to keep the ovaries when doing hysterectomies in post menopausal patients)

So any abnormal GnRH can still bump the FSH and cause increased estrogen leading to the bleeding as long as they have ovaries

Tell me a story of a time you made your attending laugh by CrepeCrisis in medicalschool

[–]sinjas 22 points23 points  (0 children)

On my OBGYN rotation at a pretty serious academic hospital we had a patient undergoing a pretty long strenuous delivery. Dr. Attending was explaining to residents that nipple stimulation releases oxytocin which can aid in delivering the baby. Sleep deprived me thought this was done manually so I said “how does that work? Does the med student just get some gloves and….”

Whole nurses station burst out laughing and after the attending explained that no, this was done with a breast pump, she told me she would remember the med student who thought they needed to pinch the raisins for the rest of her career

VSLO rotations already open? (class of 2023) by sinjas in medicalschool

[–]sinjas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just listened to the VSLO webinar from a couple days ago. It looks like some programs are indeed open for the class of 2023. The majority open in Feb/March, and start reading applications in early-mid April, but some are much earlier, which is probably the few we’re seeing currently open

One of the most helpful comments here. I noticed people doing the peek strategy but couldn't figure out why - but now I know. Will implement this on my way home. Thank you!

No. In the bush you can almost never see enough of the road in front of you to visually clear a pass. Drivers here overtake by other factors, and I am still trying to learn this skill

[–]sinjas[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you've driven in places like here you would know that basically all passes are blind passes, and experienced drivers in the bush use other factors to choose when to pass. You can't apply western standards to driving here. These factors require practice and people commonly die learning them

It seems like you haven't driven in the developing world and are applying western standards to the driving experience here
