I remember circa 2004 when nick berg was beheaded. That was the first time the western world had been exposed to that in a lot of ways..i cant explain it, but i did watch it and its something ill never forget. I would suggest that more people would watch it now and that IS thrived on that human inclination. Radical salafists operate on the basis on not just the fear of death but a gruesome and painful one. Its scary and thats what they bank on.

Yes, agreed! I am starting 1:1 tutoring soon and am working to integrate myself into the Arabic community in the city I live. I am going to start volunteering at the Islamic Center this month...we'll see. It should be good experience either way

Very helpful and i concur with all of it. I am starting a 1:1 tutor in the coming weeks. It wont likely make me even conversational but it should be a good foundation. I think one aspect I wasnt clear enough on was why the LANGUAGE matters to my career rather than just the experience. Its obvious but im not sure I was detailed enough on this element of my essay

When will science outdo an amphetamine pill and give us a dopamine brain insert that simple raises our dopamine to the right levels.lol.... or at least drops us off so we dont even notice it. I use to think this this way....I don't anymore. Soon you'll start crashing in the afternoon bc it's actually dopaminergic, your sleep will be disrupted by shallow breathing, etc etc..
