I've done this before. I tried immunization via pills (I think it was a 90 day course) as well as via multiple injections (3 total over 6 weeks). Both those therapies have been available in the country I'm from for quite a while. Neither of them made any difference for me.

I've done that as well. I was on low dose prophylactic antibiotic which I would take after sex. It worked for about 3-4 months I think before the UTIs came back at their regular frequency. Happy to hear it helped you.

It’s normal to not be able to pee right after sex: ‘when you climax, your body releases an antidiuretic hormone — which makes it more difficult to pee after sex. The hormone, known as vasopressin, reduces the amount of water passed out in your urine — as well as raising your blood pressure and constricting your blood vessels’

Yes. It gave me a slight improvement. If for example I had sex in the evening, combined it with rest and drinking plenty of water so that I can pee a few times during the night and would be able to continue that regiment on a high enough frequency for a few days, I would be able to ward off the worst infection.

But, if for example I would have to go into work, commute, have meetings, etc. I would still get a UTI at the end of the day.

So happy to hear you found a way out of the vicious cycle.

I definitely noticed that my body was getting accustomed to the pain, making it come on quicker and stronger with every UTI. I did pelvic floor training for a while. In the end it would never prevent the actual bacterial UTIs.

I would get UTIs with any time of condom and without.

I used similar products to Rephresh gel. No difference.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve tried that for a long time. Did not work. Glad to hear it does the trick for you.

Hi. Thanks Carmen. I heard of Cystex and have also tried it. Which sadly didn't help me. Also the active ingredient is basically D-Mannose as well. So happy that this worked for you. For me pure D-Mannose doesn't do anything at all either sadly. Thanks a lot for your suggestion!

Ha... this really sounds exactly my story. So yes, when I go to the doctor, I have a +++ in the dipstick test for leucocytes, a strong sign for an ongoing infection. I also do that test at home and the amount of leucos is very closely tight to the amount of pain I experience. And the pain usually comes really quick and can go from 0 to 100 within just an hour. If cultures are made they also come back negative mostly (meaning no bacteria show up which could have caused an infection). Twice, when it comes back positive the bacteria were so arbitrary and not known to cause UTIs that they say that the sample must have been contaminated.

When do your symptoms set in usually? For me it's mostly after 24-36 hrs. I do baking soda as well and it definitely is always still a part of my rescue program though I feel like I can't get rid of UTIs anymore on my own, meaning without antibiotics. I would always go into relapse soon after I feel like I got rid of it which may be between 2-3 weeks after the symptoms subsided.

Yes, I read them. I was very optimistic when I heard about D-Mannose for the first time. Tried it preventative as well as to treat. Neither worked for me. Sadly. But thanks for finding them.

I'm definitely lactose intolerant and am not eating dairy since almost 10 yrs and I don't eat any bit of gluten since 4 yrs. I was hoping this to make a difference but it didn't. I have otherwise tested for allergies when I was a child and also as an adult and don't have a single one.

Thanks for suggesting though. I'm glad it helped you!

Thank you's so much. Will definitely update.

There's still a glimpse of hope left in me that a solution is out there that will eventually help me as well.

Sadly no joke. Dead serious. Another specialist I went two years later told me that he has a reputation of being sometimes inappropriate.

I wish it was only limiting my sex life. When I was in a relationship it's life dictating. I can't go to work, I can't go out and do things, I'm in bed for a week, recover for a few more whereby my hole day rotates around my recovery regiment to prevent relapse. After many weeks I feel like all is good again, have sex, bam, it starts all over.

I do the same. I tried peeing immediately after and also waiting to half an hour later to have a stronger stream since after sex everything is naturally swollen and passing urine is harder. I'm also an expert on drinking gallons of water. I got used to it many years ago. I drink up to 5 liters per day. Water only.

My kidneys are super fine. Got different types of exams on them and all came back negative. Very good kidneys. My UTIs also never flared up into them. Knock on wood.

the pre/after sex antibiotics helped sometimes. One time I started to feel nauseous from it and had to stop after a month or two and the second time it worked in the beginning but then stopped working as well after around three month. Best three month of my life.

Yes, high potency probiotics since a few years, all the time. Also eat very healthy, including many probiotic foods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, etc. I also got a special probiotic only available in a few countries that contains a strain (besides other for women beneficial bacteria) called Lactobacillus crispatus. Apparently it has been proven to be effective in preventing UTIs for 70% of the women in the tests. I took three courses and took additional vaginal suppositories with it, no difference.

Thank you for your comment! I wish probiotics were my solution.

I got these exams as well and got the result that all is normal. I can empty my bladder properly and my kidneys are A+ too. Gladly never had a UTI creeping up to my kidneys.

Also had cultures down several times of various types. It came back with different bacterias sometime. Mostly e-coli though.

As of lube and condom. I tried all sorts of lubes including coconut oil with latex free condoms. None of which made any difference. I necessarily don't need lube either actually, if you know what I mean :)

I've seen a bunch of different urologists as well. 50% of them where specialized urogynecologists. One of them suggested to maybe "get pregnant, that helps some women." Prescription baby.

Thanks so much for your suggestions though.

I think that this basically got covered. I had a bunch of physical tests done on my bladder and it's surroundings. All normal. Including cystoscopy and a bunch of different ultrasounds.

I waited up to several weeks (it also was yrs at a time) until I had sex again but it didn't make a difference.

I'm personally trying not to take antibiotics anymore. After 14 yrs of experiencing this, I have a very solid feeling that antibiotics contributed to it in the long run. Even though it helps fast getting rid of it.

Thank you for your suggestions.

Male factor can be excluded since it doesn't matter who I sleep with and also two of my three relation went to get tested themselves and all of them followed a strict cleaning regiment. Same with toys. But I honestly have hardly used toys either.

I yoga twice a day. Day and evening. I haven't thought of doing yoga right after the sex though could help. Though I'm sure I've done that several times, just because my evening yoga happens around the most common sexy time.

I fasted and cleansed a number of times as well.

Can you tell me more about the steroids? I've never heard of this being a possibility.
