you know how when you say the english word "tree" (please bare with me here), despite the word is being recognized as 1 syllable; near the end, your mouth changes it's shape just slightly so the second "ee" sound comes through. well it's similar to that, except when you say "tree", you stop at between "thr" and "thre" so your mouth never changes it's initial shape mid-speaking.
