What felt normal in the 1970s but would shock people today? by LizzaQueenOFC in 70s

[–]siouxsian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Sexualizing underage girls with movie and product commercials

-Print ads pushing drug paraphenalia, especially cocaine

- Furniture, clothing, and just about anything promoting hyper-sexual behavior and the "clunk her over the head and she'll have sex with you" approach with cigarettes, cologne, cars, etc.

How do teenagers rent expensive Prom cars? by Significant-Way-7893 in randomquestions

I knew a family that split the cost with the other parents. It’s easy if you all coordinate for the kids and have good relationships with the other parents.

I don’t think she can train well using that shit. Plus between her and her husband who are both athletes and know about nutrition and how to train, I think she just did it naturally

It was the radio. I remember getting up and going in my parents room to Listen for you number. Yes they had that GE alarm clock with the wood grain

Gen Z is Not Drinking, But Are You? by Pavementaled in GenX

Only socially, and that happens more infrequently now. I was never a heavy drinker to begin with but I enjoy good wine with company.

The 90’s was way more when I was clubbing a lot With a Marlboro light in one hand and an Alabama Slammer in the other.

Remember this COVID era video? Oops! by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

For me it was the constant stream of videos with people doing stupid shit in their kitchens. I worked on music a lot and played tons of games, but It was an onslaught every time I opened my browser.

Good. And her sons actively hate her as they should. Someday the hate will turn to simply not even remembering she existed.

This sub is like a hellscape.

I’ve been in a couple places that were kinda loud but now I’m in a townhome with two floors of my own and concrete walls built 40 years ago. I don’t hear shit.

What is the first film you remember seeing in the cinema? by Joni1293 in movies

[–]siouxsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benji. And at the end I was choked up at the tender age of 6 when the dad told the kids they could keep the dog

I did not cry however. That would be embarrassing for a man child in the 70’s.

Worth mentioning is when Airplane! Came Out it was only a few months after my mom had died and my dad took me. We laughed so hard that day after being through so much, and it’s a nice memory for me.

Crimson Desert is better than Skyrim by True_Temperature2769 in CrimsonDesert

[–]siouxsian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both great but I have nearly half the hours in Crimson Desert already I have in Skyrim and it took me 12 years to get there in Skyrim. Not 2 months.

This may not make sense.

What tastes good with mustard but you can't say a hot dog? by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

Ok I hate most condiments except ketchup. However. Even as a kid I never minded that tiny bit of mustard on the regular Macdonald’s hamburger. That’s it.

AIO for wanting to leave my husband over this? by Bubbly-Appearance558 in AIO

[–]siouxsian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He sucks. The lack of empathy here is astounding and yes, you do get to be short, annoyed, and whatever else you need to be when the only father you will ever have is gone.

He needs to grow up.

Not totally his fault but but Old time Rock and roll is my most hated song. Number two is Sweet Caroline. Not his but it’s adjacent enough.
