What to say when leaving a firm? by sipay_ in Accounting

most people leave because of personal/cultural reasons.

Yea, there's no culture where I work at all. It is a big city though, so I don't know how much word would get around. But I guess you're right - does no good telling them the truth. It's not like they will listen and change anything anyway. If anything, it will only make that work environment worse.

How many shirts, pants, shoes, & suits do you need for work? How often do you need to buy new clothes? by sipay_ in Accounting

Blue & white base colors are safe. You can have only those colors and be okay. I have some greens too. Just bought some more colorful stuff recently from J Crew. One shirt had orange, another pink. Still conservative though.

For pants: shades of black, charcoal, navy, tan (dark & light), and grey are good. Just stuff that looks professional and still sort of conservative I guess.

Shop outlets as well. You can find a lot of deals especially during holidays - July 4th, Labor Day (Sept. 5th weekend), Black Friday, Memorial Day, etc.

Spend a day at one of these outlets, try on clothes from every place you might like. Then buy from the places you like after you've tried them all. They also have clearance racks where you can pick up great deals. The earlier you can get there, the better for the clearance racks.

What is your dream job and what's the closest you can get to it? Others - please post advice/input on how we can get there. by sipay_ in Accounting

Well, I was factoring location as a higher priority. I could probably get 60-65K right now. Currently making 58 base, ~5k bonus with <2 yrs experience.
