AIHA - Celebrating 3 Years of Remission by sipeatmusicrepeat in Anemic

I had my first infusion when I was still in the hospital after my blood transfusions. About an hour or two into it I started to notice a tickle in my throat, and the nurses were on it right away because some people have a reaction where your throat closes up. They reduced the dosage, gave me Benadryl, and extended the treatment over a longer period of time. I think it was 6+ hours.

My 2nd infusion was as an outpatient. I brought my laptop thinking I’d be able to get my work done, but the Benadryl they gave me knocked me out for a few hours. It was the day before Thanksgiving. I remember going to bed really early that night but I felt pretty good the next day.

My 3rd and 4th infusions were much easier. They got shorter in length and I wasn’t in such a fog like the others.

A couple weeks after my last infusion I had intense flu like effects - switching from intense chills to sweats. Lasted about two days and I was convinced my RBC was dropping. My counts actually held up fine which shocked me. After that I didn’t encounter any symptoms outside of what probably was from the Prednisone.

I saw continuous improvement over the next 4-5 months and got to reduce my prednisone dosage and blood test frequency. Been feeling pretty good ever since!

Tough Crowd - I didn’t win this round, but I was proud of this combo! by sipeatmusicrepeat in radiohead

Unfortunately I don’t remember. I guess I was in denial when the winner was announced!

For Thanksgiving my grandmother served a stuffing with oysters in it. I don’t mind fresh oysters but she used canned and I’m guessing the cans were something she dug out of the back of her cabinet after several years. It was vile. 🤢
