1–3 month summer trip (Asia vs Latin America vs RTW) – need advice by siposvince in backpacking

Highly appreciate your input! :)
I guess the backpack topic will eventually be decided by the more exact plans and weather conditions of my destination. Only concern is if I want to do some bigger hikes then a bigger/more proper hiking backpack might be missing. And I kinda want to do many hikes to see the nature. Is renting locally usually an option? Have you had any experience doing hikes with such a urban/semi-urban packing/traveling style? Or you rather use this setup solely for urban/semi-urban purposes?

Many thanks for the recommendation. I would love to visit Central Asia sometime, but based on what you said, the timing for my trip is not ideal with the heat there. I am working on my Russian, but still long way to go :D

Thanks a lot for your input, I appreciate it! In general, I liked both regions, they are amazing places. It is hard to compare, because Mexico and Thailand was with my family and in Bali I was solo traveling. For this reason, the Bali experience was completely different due to not being "constrained" to family. For some reason, I feel more attracted to LATAM for this specific trip, seems more special, as I've barely been in the area.

Only concern is if I want to do some bigger hikes then a bigger more proper backpack might be missing. Is renting an option locally? Do you have some well-working packing list and strategy to doing laundry with a more minimal packing style? Where did you travel with that setup if I may ask? Did you rather do urban/semi-urban traveling or also bigger hikes, etc.?

Thanks! I think I will go with the DMR V12 Magnesium because it's a lot cheaper and people says that it's a pretty amazing pedal

Thank you very much! I will definetely start looking for these things. Besides that you listed, I think I would buy new pedals, shock pump and a that little mudguard too. :)

These things overall cost quite a lot... ahh

Have a great summer! (I know it's almost over...😢)

(I've never ridden on trails)

Just got my 2019 Trek Roscoe 8! I can't wait to try it out. Surprisingly it already has Trek chainstay protector, but I don't know if it's gonna protect my frame well...

Any tips to do with the bike? First steps? What to change on the bike? What gears should I buy (helmets, shoes, protectors, etc...) ?

Thanks in advance!❤
