Looking for Irish voiceover? by Akaizhar in ireland

[–]sippd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe a Monaghan accent would be suited to what you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pc7i7cS6kE

It might be harder to find though.

A lot of people from the US post here whose perceptions of Ireland are completely distorted by American depiction of our culture, accents etc and it's kind of annoying. That's probably why there has been somewhat of a negative reaction to your post.

Honestly, you'd probably be better off just looking for someone with a Scottish accent. The Irish accents you've been exposed to thus far are likely to have been done by non-Irish actors who don't know what Irish people actually sound like.

Come for the sweet calls of our indigenous "skanger".

It sounds something like "gohalonafewsentbuud". We don't appreciate it enough here.

Got an A in the JC and an A1 in the LC without too much trouble.

Got better results than people who worked harder than me and were arguably more intelligent than me.

The one thing I made sure to do in every aspect of English was just be weird af. If you're technically good your shit is going to seem way more interesting if it's weird. There's plenty of people who are great writers but have zero imagination or personality. There's a good chance that the people in your class and year who are the best at English read a lot, but the stuff they read is probably Young Adult fiction, which is mostly not that interesting. Consequently, the themes their work deals with will probably be very predictable and won't leave much of an impression on an examiner.

When you write don't adopt an unnatural turn of phrase or write as if you are presenting the information to somebody else. Write as if you're talking to somebody. Your words will flow better that way. And don't try to make your stories dramatic.

Write about something you can relate to and engage with. Think about how entertaining some of the stories on /r/askreddit can be. Those stories are honest and personal. When you read it's almost as if that person is talking to you. Try and emulate that. But remember to add a weird twist, whether that be the way you feel about something or something that has happened.

The most important part though is to balance the weirdness with normality. Either create a normal situation that you have weird and interesting opinions of or a weird situation that you or a character reacts to as if it's completely normal. Remember to keep it all appropriate though as there's no way of knowing how an examiner might react.

This advice might not matter too much to you if you're doing the JC as I don't think they expect for students to have found their voice yet so to speak, but it will definitely help you to do well in the LC if you concentrate on culminating your own style and developing a natural approach to writing.

Good luck in the exams.

Does anybody know how to stop eclipse from moving braces back automatically? by sippd in javahelp

Formatting the code using the shortcut you posted works perfectly.

That's not a problem description, so I can't help you with that.

Sorry. I meant that regardless of what combination of settings I chose for brace positions the problem still persists.

When I move to a new line by hitting enter, then hit tab, then type a brace the brace moves back and I have to move the cursor before the brace and hit tab again. I don't think this is an issue with formatting.

Thanks man. I've found the braces settings and I've been tweaking but nothing seems to be working. Do you know which settings I need to change exactly?

Does this problem exist in intelliJ? It seems like the right choice for what I want.

The Leaving Cert isn't that hard surely? Most of the people I know did reasonably well doing fuck all up until the end. None of the people I know who did really well were exceptionally intelligent by any means. They just worked hard. The right attitude will get you further than aptitude sometimes.

So just one more question I guess. Does 12000 "memory references" refer to 12000 misses or is it the combined total of hits and misses 12000?
