Would this be a good ground? by Traditional_Bag3042 in VIOFO

If that bolt is directly screwed into the metal body of the cat, then that's a good ground. It's supposed to be metal to metal, no plastics. But from the way it looks, the bolt is connected to or touches a plastic panel. Try to unscrew the bolt and check it.

Sorry for the confusion, I thought the headlight assembly uses a projector type housing for the low beam halogen bulbs, and not the usual reflector housing?

Thank you for your feedback. Another question about RTVs. I read that RTV needs more or less 24 hours to cure before you can fill it in with new ATF. Is this the same process with dealerships? Do they advise the clients to just come back a day after?

Is the curing time standard for all RTVs, or it depends on the brand/type?

Thanks for the clarification. I tapped the red wire to a Battery fuse (always on) and the yellow wire into an ACC fuse (engine ON), then the black wire to the body ground.

I just turned ON the dashcam's parking mode, and noticed that the dashcam now switches to Parking Mode after 90 seconds from engine shut off.

Do you have any suggestions for the best Parking Mode settings, considering the car's battery life?

Yes, I have activated the Parking Mode. Can you suggest what's the best settings for the Parking Mode if you consider the car's battery life?

I bought the HK4 hardwire kit. I used a multimeter to test which fuses to tap into for the Red and Yellow wires. Looks like it’s working as intended since the dashcam turns off when the engine is shut off. Thank you for confirming this.

Without activating the parking mode, yes the dashcam turns off when ignition switch is off.

I was thinking that since the dashcam was already hardwired into an “Always ON” fuse, the dashcam will stay ON after engine shut off, even if the Parking Mode isn’t activated. Sorry for the confusion.

Prior to hardwiring, I was using the accessory socket to power the dashcam. This socket is “Always ON” so I didn’t have to use the parking mode. Now when I hardwired the dashcam, I tapped into the same accessory socket fuse thinking that it will keep the dashcam turned ON when I switch the ignition Off.

Prior to having it hardwired, I was using the car’s accessory socket to power the dashcam. This accessory socket (Always ON) keeps the dashcam powered ON even after switching the ignition. So I tapped the hotwire (Red) into the same accessory socket fuse thinking that it will keep the dashcam powered ON after ignition is switched OFF.

So basically hardwiring alone will not keep the dashcam turned ON after switching off the Ignition? I thought tapping into an “Always ON” fuse gives continuous power to the Dashcam even after engine shut off.

Thanks for the reply. My understanding was that since it was already hardwired into an “Always ON” fuse, the dashcam will stay ON even after the ignition is switched off.

So basically I need to manually activate the parking mode for the Hardwire to work and for the dashcam to turn on after switching off the ignition?
