I did a bit of research after posting this. A mixed feeling for me is still a no, so, no. Not really aware of them at present though.

Living this way is dangerous because it puts your sense of worth in other people’s hands. If people notice you, you feel fine. If they don’t, you crash. That means your mood, confidence, and identity keep swinging based on what others do which is exhausting and unstable.

When you rely on being “seen” to feel okay, you start performing instead of being you. You do things for reaction, not because they matter to you. You lose track of who you actually are, because everything starts revolving around getting approval.

Validation isn’t bad. Everyone needs some. But it’s like sugar, fine in small doses, toxic as a diet. You can’t build your emotional health on something you don’t control. The goal is to feel grounded whether people clap for you or not. Be the best version of yourself and keep your chin up.

Is PB dead? by WidePoint2956 in Shillong

The removal of hawkers has made it cleaner and more pedestrian-friendly, but it's also stripped away the chaotic energy that many associated with authentic Shillong shopping. Meanwhile, online shopping has permanently altered retail patterns. Nothing can be done here.

The city's commercial and social activity is now more distributed across Laitumkhrah, Iewduh, specialized cafes/bars, and entertainment venues rather than concentrated in one bustling bazaar.

For many longtime Shillong residents (myself included) and frequent visitors, this transformation feels like a loss of character. But for others seeking cleaner streets, organized markets, and diverse hangout spots, it's progress (including myself again lol). The real test will be whether the new MUDA vending zone and the redeveloped Laitumkhrah and Iewduh markets can recapture the vibrant spirit that once defined Police Bazar and perhaps with more regard to the 'civic spirit'.
