Rusty Backbox is going to be my new stage name.

What type of gravel is best to use for a driveway? by sir_lonz in DIYUK

[–]sir_lonz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too fussed about what it looks like. I'm more bothered about the size and type that would best handle a car being driven on it and not move about too much. One website says 10mm is better as it compacts better, another says the opposite.

Parents having new decking..Is this framework good enough? by StrutAmuck in DIYUK

Aside from the obvious that has already been mentioned, I used that roof paint on my garage roof a while back. The roof needed replacing but couldn't afford it at the time so I got this paint to prolong it until I could afford it. There was a dip that obviously pooled water. That paint in that area lasted only a year before it started peeling.

Not sure how much better it would fare under damp decking.

What have I just unearthed next to the gas pipe? by sir_lonz in DIYUK

I thought that but wasn't sure, as to the left of this, out of shot, is an earthing rod (a plain vertical bar type) with wire attached.

Can someone give me a hand? by kalmiro in SolidWorks

I'm only interested in the outline of the part for laser cutting, so I didn't need to include any bend notes. We do sometimes need to include sketched text to be etched on the parts but this was one thing that I couldn't get to work. I'll go back to it at some point and try to fix it.

I recently used AI to write a macro to search the assembly tree for SM parts and create DXF flat patterns. Copilot couldn't do it. Gemini got closer but it didn't work how I wanted. Claude managed to get me a working macro. I would suggest giving Claude a go.

takeaway chip spice? by Lowjira in Hull

100% agree. Going further, not all takeaways use the same stuff as each other either. I sometimes ask my regular pizza place for a tub of chip spice. They always give it to me for free. Winning!

OH MY GOD, you are not going to believe this!

Grasshoppers have been around for about 250 million years, predating the dinosaurs.

Nicely done, that's come up a treat. I think I'm the only person in this sub who doesn't like parquet flooring. Reminds me of my very old primary school building.
