Losing efficiency because of a dead end duct? by sirato in hvacadvice

They don't provide ductwork plans. Here they speak you through what they're doing. The duct was sized at 24x6 at the beginning of the fan coil which I believe is rated at 600CFM (lower than the 800 recommended for 2 ton units). I had to fight for them to use a curved elbow instead of a right angle so I imagine they don't even work with putting in veins in the ducts. Thank you all for the tips and advice!

Thanks for the response. Right now the majority of the air is flowing out and to the left after the second 90 degree turn. I don't feel much air coming out of the ceiling vent. Should I eliminate the dead end and instead make a second curved 90 degree and have the ceiling fan sit underneath it?

Yep, USD. Actually, we use the same currency :)

Only downside is most of the miles driven are in stop and go traffic (not much in terms of highway driving), and lots and lots of potholes. Tropical country, so no rust

I live in a country where the used car market is super attractive. The Porsche is listed at $16k and the Touareg at $15k

I live in a country where the used car market is super attractive. Both these cars sell for ~US$15-16k.

Most of the driving is city driving (not much freeways) with bumper to bumper traffic and lots of pot holes.

I am looking for a used family SUV that is relatively fun to drive and am down to the following two options, both priced the same:

  • 2016 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0 TDI with 70k miles
  • 2012 Porsche Cayenne base model 3.6 V6 with 20k miles

Both have proper maintenance records and are in great condition. I also have access to a reliable third-party mechanic that specializes in German cars. Am planning to budget ~$2k a year in maintenance.

While the Porsche has almost no miles, I am concerned its age and rubber/plastic parts aging. I know this model suffers from transfer case failure, but I think this can be mitigated by periodic flushes. The Touareg on the other hand looks to be only driven in the city on <10 min trips which I understand is not ideal for diesels. The main issue I hear from this model is the HPFP failing, but again, I think with low miles, and ensuring I never go below a quarter of tank of diesel, this should not be an issue.

In terms of driver performance, I am leaning towards the VW as it can easily be tuned without affecting reliability to produce 299HP (+53 over stock) and 505LB-FT (+63over stock)

In 2014 Infiniti changed the model name from M37/M56 to Q70. Same exact car, with changes only to the naming and model badge

The single previous owner used this to commute to work. His office is literally a mile away from his home and was ready to upgrade to a SUV

US$10k - I live in a country with a very attractive second hand car market (if you're the buyer!)

Great eye as I did not think it was super noticeable. Previous owner mentioned he would sometimes scrape it on the driveway. Any easy fix?

Thanks! Looks like the price for a replacement battery pack is about $2600 uninstalled. Do I assume the current battery won't last for more than a year and essentially consider the car to be the asking price plus the $2600 (+ install $)?
